My 2704 is blowing fuses, there is no fault on the lead

Based on the fact it is not said where it is used or how it blows i.e. does it blow as soon as power is applied or does it blow after a few seconds? In the first case you probably looking for direct short while in the second case a faulty item that is becoming defective when energized or hot.

Defective compressor clutch, or ground fault in the ac switch circuit.
Disconnect lead to compressor from ac switch.
Run a fused line from the battery to the compressor, if it works without blowing the fuse, check for fault in the AC switch circuit.

make sure fuse is the right one amp wise, if so uninstall radio and try fuse again to see if it blows. if not radio at fault also check wire harness leading to radio

there are no capacitators that I see. What I would do is unplug the tool and remove the brushes and check there condition for burning/wear and if you can look into the brush tube and carefully turn the motor by hand and look at the commutator for discoloration. Fuel will not do this. You need to determine which circuit's fuse is blowing and find the fault in that system which may lead to your starting problem. Otherwise, sort out the fuse problem and then start a new course of troubleshooting.

The fuse that keeps blowing is related to your ignition. Get the faults read at a shop and find what is triggering fault and that will lead you to your problem. It's a whole lot easier than throwing parts at it, and cheaper.

if it keeps blowing the fuse check the lead for continuity and if that ok the motor will be at fault

if the motor RPM drops dramatically when the noise starts, it is probably a dry motor bushing, if this just started, lubricating the motor may just fix it.

it is always best to have fuse on battery lead but as long as the leads are definately going through the fuse panel then you should have no problem but if you have the fuse and it blows then their is deffinately something wrong.
The fuse on the battert leads is a backup as long as the wires are running through main fuse panel the reason for extra fuse is because the main fuse works other things running off it not just the one for radio so the fuse on the battery lead is their so that if something wrong with the unti then that fuse blows and only that 1 unit wont work but if main fuse blows other things might not work so its always best to have inline fuse so that only the 1 unit stops working incase of problem.
so its not vital you have one but it usefull so that you know where the problem is coming from and saves time tracking down fault
