Welcome to Fixya
Sounds like you have a drive mechanical problem. Try to reset the unit first. Unplug the power for 31 minute and plug it back in and power up then hit eject. If this will not fix the problem then you need to contact Bose for them to repair the mechanical gears of the drive.

The DVD player in this model is not up to the standards of the rest of the system and the complaint about the player not ejecting are numerous. You can manually eject the disc by inserting a toothpick or straightened paper clip into the tiny hole next to the eject button on the player and pressing in to release the tray. As fa as the player goes it is my understanding that the player is just a standard Toshiba 16x DVD reader, Model # SD-M1502.
Using this player or another suitable generic substitute will be much cheaper than buying a new player from Bose. Another solution is to use a good stand alone DVD player and use the AUX input of the BOSE, this allows the sound of the BOSE with a stand alone DVD player to bypass your defective one.
Hi curt730,
You're right, this is a known issue for years with Bose Lifestyle. You may try these steps to resolve the issue:
Note: You will need a flashlight and a small screwdriver.
1. First, disconnect the base unit from the system.
2. Turn the base unit upside down and find the access hole embossed with "Manual magazine release" on the CD player side.
3. Then, using the flashlight, look inside the base unit at those access holes and find the fine spring and locate where it fastens to the sheet metal of the CD player.
4. The moment you find the spring you should see that it connects to the CD player chassis at the forward end and a piece of sheet metal that is on top (actually underneath when the base unit is right-wide up) of the CD player chassis at the rear end. This is the manual release mechanism.
5. Finally using the small screwdriver, push the release mechanism rearward to release the CD magazine from the player. The magazine should pop out.
If the magazine is not released, then the CD that is still in the player has not been slid back fully into the magazine. In this case you'll need to plug the base unit back into power and hope that the CD is retracted, allowing you to push the release mechanism rearward. If not then you'll have to open the base unit to access the CD player.
Hope this helps.

Hello: thanks for responding. I'm not sure if my system is definitely a Lifestyle 28. Could it be a 35? You refer to base system. Which is this? You refer to a magazine. The DVD player holds only one disc. This is why I'm not sure which piece holds the secret location for that "fine spring". The system consists of: 1 large upright module where all the wires plug into, 1 DVD player which holds one disc, and 5 pairs of double cube speakers. Can you add further assistance? Thanks. Curt Pasawicz.
I'm still waiting to hear another response. The Bose DVD player does not have a magazine. What are you calling the base unit? Thanks. Curt
jem07: thanks for trying to help, but there is not a small hole near the eject button in which to insert a small toothpick like tool. Do you have any other suggestions? I thought this would be fairly simple. Please respond as soon as you can. I really appreciate you trying to help me out. Regards. Curt
Hello. I'm still waiting for a solution to fix my stuck DVD player. So far the first 2 fixes don't apply to my player. The 3rd fix is to purchase a new player which I can't afford to do. Still hoping that you will come up with one that works. Thanks. Curt.
