Someone sold me a Coby HDTV HDMI without a remote. The channel or the volume button on the side of the tv won't work so I got a universal remote. For some reason the only thing the universal remote does is turns the tv on and off and the volume up and down. It would not change the mode of the TV nor any channels. What is the problem?

The code that's entered on the remote is the wrong one for the tv. use the instructions for the remote and get the correct code.. for your model or search ebay for the exact remote. also child lock maybe activated on the tv meaning you cant use the buttons on your tv until you use menu on the remote to take it of.

How to program a vizio tv without a remote vizio

Upon first start you should be prompted. If not, you will find a series of buttons on the TV itself; power, channel up down, volume up/down, input and menu. Hit the menu button and the menu will pop up. Scroll up and down with channel button, select and controls are the volume. either that or you can get a Samsung phone that has an app built into it called watch on, which has a universal remote that works for virtually everything. Happy surfing.

I just received a Coby TFTV992 9" portable TV. I'm trying to tune the TV channels without success.

1st click the "mode" button on the TV or remote then use the vol. up and down buttons to scroll around until you get to DTV mode then press "enter" on the remote you should get a message "please run channel auto scan" . click "Menu" on the remote the "Picture" screen will come up, keep clicking the vol. up button to scroll past "Audio" then "Setup" then to "Channel" then use the CH up or down buttons to scroll to "Air" click OK , then use the CH down button to scroll to "Scan all channels" then click the vol. up button. it then should start scanning, FYI you have to be fast!

No remote..want to play xbox...how can i do this without remote? TV has no input button

Just get a cheap universal remote, and program it to the TV. Some TVs don't have the dedicated buttons to switch inputs, without the remote.

My GE universal remote for RCA Scenium tv doesn't work the DVD part

If this is a combo unit (TV with DVD built in) you need the original remote---Universals almost always are missing key features the original remote had as most companies have someone else make the unit and put their name on it.

I am trying to use an HDTV as a computer monitor. The TV model is "Initial HDTV 262. The sales literature says that it can double as a computer monitor. I do not have a remote control for the TV. Does...

Most TV s have button controls on the side, top, botom or back. You should be able to choose the menu option the use the up and down arrows on the volume or channel to control the menu options. Once you set the input source you should be good to go.

TV is on one channel and will not work with remote or allow me to change channells from side of tv

I've run into this same issue. Although not a complete fix, I was able to program the tv with a basic universal remote. Try using the Goldstar remote codes. While I'm unable to use the channel buttons, I can change channels manually and turn the tv on/off and use the volume button. Again, not a fix, but a work around for now.

My tv was playing fine when I turned it off. Later, I drop the remote prior to attempting to turn the tv on.Tv will not turn on with or without remote.

OK, YES you CAN turn on the TV without the remote, in fact you can do nearly everything that can be done on your remote, on the TV itself, NOW look, CAREFULLY around the edged or sides of your set, you will find there are "Buttons" usually there are 6 - 7 Buttons, if you look carefully at them you will see they are marked, usually with a Volume Up & Down, word, or symbol, A Channel Up & Down, buttons a Menu, an Enter, and an ON/OFF button, & sometimes others. Now To turn on, Press and hold the Power button, the TV will Turn ON, you can change Channels, with the Channels, and Volume, with the Volume ones. The Menu button, will allow selection to all the other sub menus and settings. IF you need to get a remote, Please, get an original, it may be more hassle, it may take longer to get, it maybe costs more... BUT IT WILL WORK. Universal remotes, well, read through a few posts dealing with them, and you will see what I mean. IF you MUST get one, absolutely ensure that it performs every function the original one did, or you can have many headaches.
