I have a AL2016W monitor. It worked fine on my old XP machine. After that one crashed I have bought a Windows7 machine. Windows suggests to set the resolution to 1680x1050. The screen doesnt show the right resolution. A part of the bottom of the screen is cut-off. The screen isnt sharp (characters are distorted) Sometimes when a windows message window appears, suddenly the resolution is ok and very sharp. So the monitor can handle this resolution.Where to look for a solution?

Excelent description thanx. I assume you have bought a new PC. If so simply remove old HDD and plug it into the DVD cable on the new PC and boot up. It should read the old HDD, simply "copy" pics to new HDD.
DO NOT "MOVE" pics or will corrupt drive futher.
Reformat oldd HDD and repload Windows, all good again.
if your monitor came with a disk try installing the drivers again you might still have the drivers for the previous monitor you had with your system if not try going to the manufacturers website and getting the drivers and install them
I also have an Asrock motherboard (M266A) and have the AL2216W. The image and text is also fuzzy. I did improve it a by by unplugging/replugging all of the connectors on the back of the computer. I believe my mouse had a somewhat loose connection and this was causing interference. I can actually create interference on screen by moving my mouse up and down.
These Acer monitors seem to be very sensitive. I also tried this monitor on a old Desktop with Win98 and another new laptop with XP and it looks good on those computers, but not on my Asrock based system.
