Question about Norelco 3605 X Electric Shaver

1 Answer

I was given a norelco 3605 shaver in excellent condition (used) without instructions and would like to know the charging procedure and duration (the amount of time it takes to fully charge the razor). Is it possible to overcharge or can I leave the shaver plugged in when I am not shaving.

The manual says to charge for 16 hours if it has not been used in awhile. They say nothing about it over charging, but the batteries need to be used and let discharge through shaving. A fresh/new battery is supposed to last about 2 weeks before needing a recharge. I think keeping them charged all the time cuts down on battery life.

My shaver appers to be dying. It doesn't hold a charge anymore and lacks the power that it used to have so it catches my beard. Should I replace the battery or is it ready for scrap?

The battery for model 3605X can be found at for a price of $12.49. See link below

To replace, start by removing the 4 screws on the back and then removing the back cover. You can then access the battery. For easiest replacement, it is suggested that you use a modified installation technique. This is to break the tabs off of the old batteries rather than unsoldering them from the circuit board. This allows the old batteries to be removed but leaves the tabs attached to the circuit board. You can then solder the tabs from the new batteries to the old existing tabs

Won't hold a charge

Most likely, the battery is dead. To change the battery on model 3605X, you need to remove the back cover by removing the 4 screws. You will need to extent the long hair trimmer to reveal 2 of them. Once back is removed, you can access the batteries. You may find it easier to work with if you remove the 'guts' by taking off the two clips that hold the motor to the shaver. You can then lift everything out.
Simply unsolder the old battery and solder in a new one. Reassemble in reverse order.
You will find this battery at See link below
