images can be viewed using memory card only on Windows 7. This requires your computer to have a memory card reader that you can insert your Camera's memory card into. If your printer has a memory card reader, you could use that as well.

If you want to use the camera with a USB cable, you will need another computer with Windows XP installed as the Operating system, or you will need to purchase a newer camera that is compatible with Windows 7.

Windows7 usually use x64 bit system operation, drivers which run in windows XP or Vista can be uninstallable in Windows 7 because XP and Vista use x32 bit system operation (except certain series).
See your OS from Device Manager (Windows+PauseBreak > Device Manager), 32 bit or 64 bit. Then you can download the driver compatible with your OS from here :

There in no need to download driver explicitly, As driver comes inbuilt with your Window 7 operating system, you need to connect your device (Camera) with the computer through data cable and just need to follow the instructions.

Windows Vista or Windows 7, will have problems running some older versions of applications, just because so much has changed under the hood from Windows XP days. Thankfully there is a compatibility mode that can be easily set per application.
To configure the compatibility mode for an application, just locate the installation directory and right click on the .exe, selecting Properties from the menu.

You can choose to run the program in Windows XP compatibility mode, or even all the way back to Windows 95 compatibility.
Probably the most useful setting to start off with would be to disable the visual themes and desktop composition, if you can’t get things working. Camera direct to computer connections are notoriously problematic. (Lousy with bugs etc.) I avoid the problem entirely by using a card reader ($15-20) combined with Picasa3 (free software from Google). Remove card from camera and insert into card reader, connect to computer via USB and download images with Picasa3. Works great and is relatively cheap.

Apparently IXUS 55 is not compatible with a 4GB SD card. Use a 2GB and you would be fine.

You first need to change the operating mode to Manual. Then you can change the flash by pressing the right button a few times.
