This model seems to have a fuse in a cylindrical white nylon fuse holder, probably located near the right rear.

It will also have a thermostat on the magnetron which may be out.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here or here.

Hotpoint model 6671P convection microwave keeps tripping mains panel Fuse when start is pressed. Could this be a problem with a fuse in the Microwave or is is a dud magnatron? How best to test?

Too many watts on same circuit. Plug it into a different outlet and see what happens, not on same circuit. So one that stays live when micro trips circuit breaker.

How do I change the fuse?

On most GE/Hotpoint models, the control panel assembly will either tip down, or pivot sideways for access to the components behind it. Screws holding the top air deflector might have to be removed in order to gain access to the control panel mounting screws. I recently junked-out a similar model. The main fuse was near where the power cord enters the cabinet on top. Avoid contact with any of the high voltage components.

Microwave makes a loud noise while using.

Could you describe the noise?

It may be a noisy fan motor or a failing magnetron or high-voltage transformer.
