When the paper is fed it is pulled in w/ the bottom right side of the paper going in but not the left side, it becomes uneven and ends up jamming - what would be the reason it would grab and pull the right corner of the paper causing the jam - how would I fix?

The most likely cause of the problem is an obstruction on the left side of the paper path - most likely a shred of paper from a previous jam. You can estimate where to look by how far the paper goes in before it starts to twist to the side. Sometimes I've had to use a dental pick to snag a shred buried deep inside as an alternative to dismantling the printer. You may find it helpful to use a small mirror to look underneath or behind rollers while you search for the culprit.

Another possibility is one side of a dual pickup roller (two rollers on a single shaft) is worn out. That is unlikely; except for large format units most printers use a single pickup roller.

Paper is pulled into printer unevenly causing paper jam

Look closely at the "path" that the paper takes through the printer -- you probably have a small piece of paper stuck somewhere, that is causing the paper-feed to get "skewed".

Failing that, take the printer to a qualified technician.

When paper is fed into the auto sheet feed the left side of the paper feeds, but the right side is not feeding at all....resulting in a paper jam. You can hear the printer printing but the paper doesn't go...

helpful to know what kind of machine you have :\. In general one of the paper pickup roller pads is probably rotated 180 degrees out and not touching the paper, many rollers are triangular/square and have to be oriented correctly. Other causes are the plastic gears which if stripped means a junk printer unless its an expensive one. Stripped gears because someone pulled a jammed page out too violently is the usual cause. Check also for embedded staples/paperclips in the mechanism.

Major paper jam - all the paper has fed into the printer

Take the printer to a qualified technician, for proper repair, if you don't know "HOW" to properly disassemble/reassemble your printer.

My printer won't use regular paper

If there is nothing extra inside, like paper clips, candy, push pins, the roller that feeds the paper may be broken. Feel the rubber roller in the back that pulls paper in, if it flops up and down at all the end may be broken off and a dealer would need to replace it. Look real close with a flashlight and small mirror and see if something has fallen in where the paper goes.

HP 1020 Issue

Maybe if you hold down the cycle button and let it run through a "test cycle" to receive a printer data sheet it might clear the internal buffer or whatever you call that short term memory these printers have. Let us know. JP

Hp laserjet 4L

If you have cleaned the paper feed rollers, and your sure the fuser is turning and your cartridge is ok then, the drive motor on these have a white plastic gear that cracks and allows it to slip on the shaft of the motor. I might still have some of the gears here. I fixed some by apoxying the gear on the shaft and some by flipping the gear on the shaft. Wouldnt spend a lot of time with it. a new laser 4 times as fast is advertised here regularly for less than $80.00
