While shooting, the buttons stopped responding although the power was on and I still had a picture in the LCD. I can't turn it off, and it didn't turn itself off.
same as above problem, no buttons work, the lens on the front is still open and extended, cant close or get any response. Pluggin USB into the camera still doesn't work- no response from PC.same as above problem, no buttons work, the lens on the front is still open and extended, cant close or get any response. As soon as the camera is switched on, the lens barrel will come out. Everything should be ready to shoot pictures. If it is not responding to the buttons, you could try to remove the battery for a few moments. It will cause the camera, to start from scratch. Call it a cold boot. But then after switching on, it should respond normal, like you used to work with it. If it stays frozen, visit your dealer or contact a Samsung certified repair centre.
That camera could have two things causing it, 1 the soft press is the auto focus. Most cameras have a half press or soft press to turn on the auto focus and the hard press or press to take the picture. That could just be the camera. Some cameras that can be turned off in the menu. If that is not the case and it does not auto focus when you press it, then it is the button. We used to see that a lot with cameras. The button gives sometimes.
Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.
TURN ON CAMERA. SEE IF THERE IS A MESSAGE. NOW, TURN OFF CAMERA. TAKE OFF LENS. REPLACE LENS- MAKE SURE YOU HEAR A "CLICK" TURN ON CAMERA AND TRY AGAIN. OK?
My camera problems have been resolved, although I can't attest to how or why. After about six hours, as I prepared to pack off the little guy to the manufacturer, everything had gone back to normal. I'm left only to speculate that maybe the camera admitted some condensation from yesterday's frigid and wet weather which whacked out its electronic nervous system temporarily. I have no clue.
Think it might be your batteries. 700mah batteries are pretty weak by today's standards (most are at least 2,500 mah these days). I'm guessing your batteries are several years old? If so, they're really only meant to have a usable shelf life of a few years, whether they are used or not. Recommend trying a new set of rechargeable batteries.
