My sony lcd works fantastic with my ATI video card; the 1080 looks superb.
I use the DVI to HDMI converter on the PC as well.
I wasn't able to get audio from the PC to the AV receiver via HDMI, but apparently my pc's internal audio chipset has a component that conflicts with ATI's HDMI Audio Out drivers. Still, I do get the Dolby Digital through digital PCM cable though, - but I digress.
I have read all your comments, and would have suggested you have a bad DVI/HDMI converter, except you said that it works in safe mode, which means that everything can work - the configuration just needs tweaking.
My first gut reaction is that you might review your ati catalyst settings, (and eventually your resolution settings and refresh rate. Unplug your connection from the computer to the TV. Load up your Catalyst Control Center, and get yourself out of the dumbed down options into 'Advanced View'. Plug your TV in. Does Catalyst detect it? Does your windows device manager detect it as a display? Catalyst ought to see it as an 'attached display currently disabled.' If so, drag it from the 'disabled' area to the 'Desktop 2' area. You will need to decide if you'll be running this display as a second screen (extended desktop) or a clone of your pc's monitor.
To spur Catalyst along with finding your TV, there is a Detect Display button under the representation of the two screens (labeled 1 & 2). Additionally, you may need to right click on the the #2 monitor icon and select 'Enable'.
I'd like to help solve your home theater issues, so let me know your results from these steps, and I will take your further down the troubleshooting path as required.
I hope that helps.

Hello
The mamory IC inside the circuit of your tCL tv is faulty. Memory IC is one which transfers data to main system IC when we switch the set ON each time. Now it transfers the data to the system IC ofcourse, but not memorize the [LPM]; last position memory. This IC can be located very nearto the main system IC; will have 8 solder terminals. It can be easly unsodered out and resodered in. Its number is most important. Keep a keen look on its number and buy an exact replacemnt. It will be very cheap to buy, and can be had from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. OK.
