I can't find the self timer on my fuji finepix av camera

My AV10 just turns itself off every time i set the self timer on either 2 second delay or 10 second delay. It doesn't take the photo. WHY?!

Does it shut off immediately, or only after the usual timeout? Are you pressing the shutter release button to start the self-timer?

Press cursor-down (marked with a one-handed clock), then choose the desired delay. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

No 'ON' indicator in the self timer menu

The first clock sets the self-timer for a ten-second delay, the second for a two-second delay. Select the one you want to set the self-timer. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button as usual.

Is it possible you have the self timer ON?
Look for a small clock symbol in the top middle of the view screen or electronic viewfinder. If it is on then hit the down arrow on the 4 direction button until it goes off. There are two self timer settings, 10 seconds and 2 seconds, and off means shoot immediately.

Yes it is the self timer and it is accessed thru the menu button options. Im camera mode just push the menu button one time and u should see the option for self timer or set up options. (left or right toggling of the menu button) It is a 10 second count down. Hope this helps you.

Self Timer Operation

Easy, in camera mode, push the menu/ok button, use the left and right arrows to display the self timer mode. There are only 3 options on the menu. (self timer,cont,option). Once self timer is on the screen, use the up arrow to pick a short or long self timer.

Once it is set, compose your picture and press the release button as normal, the self timer will do the rest
