Re: tv won't operate off remote control
Unless you had the remote tested by Samsung, the test isn't comprehensive; it will only tell if the remote is putting out infra-red of some kind, that type of tester cannot determine if the codes are correct or complete.
The only true test would be one in which you had a second TV or a second, known working remote. Even using an oscilloscope with an infra-red detector wouldn't help unless one had the specific code sequences available, it would only appear as a pulse train.

1st you must figure out is the problem with the TV infrared receiver or is it with the remotes infrared transmitter, to do this buy a cheap universal remote from any retail store like Walmart and program it to your TV, if it fails to operate the TV the TV is the problem. If the TV is ok and you want to buy the OEM remote try eBay.

... how to program an RCA Universal remote for operation with your TV. ... Still in able to work or my rca flat screen and my zenith. .. ive .... I'd do it over and over and the power button on the remote just turns off in the end?.
I found a list of codes in my old Technics Hi-Fi system SADX940 that also work with this remote. So it seems the codes are universal, and even though some people claim that this remote cannot control Philips TVs because it is not a real "Universal Remote", it does. I held down the TV POWER button and entered code "06" and my old Philips TV responded with channel and volume settings - just the job. Hope it helps.
Try these simple trick to find out yor remote control working or not.... Point the remote control towards the Camera of a Mobile Camera phone, with the camera on. While pressing remote, we can see a light (Infra Red) coming from its IR LED through the Mobile Camera if the Remote is working. If your Remote is ok, then the problem with the Remote sensor or related components of the device.
I would start by trying other codes on the universal remote. Sometimes codes will only work part of the remote such as the numbers or channels but not volume. Your motorola cable remote sounds like it may only need a good cleaning. sometimes when you take remotes apart it will look like somthing got spilt in it. I would start there first.
