Most laptops have a "toggle" to control the video-output:
* only to the internal LCD,
* only to the external VGA port,
* to both internal and external.

Toggle to activate the external VGA port, and connect an external monitor.
If you don't get a picture, then the computer's video-adapter is the problem.

Take the laptop into a darkened room, and look at the LCD screen.
If the inverter is dead, there still should be a VERY-FAINT picture.

The monitor on my Toshiba P25-S5093 does not have any display of any kind; all black. I have display using external monitor.

Hi,
Does the display show anything before you enter windows? If yes, then press the key to transfer video back to your original screen once you enter windows. It should be the function key "Fn" + F5 - F8. looks for the icon which shows a monitor or says "CRT/LCD".
If it doesn't show anything before you enter windows I'm afraid your screen needs to be replaced. Good luck.

My dad cracked his lcd display for his satellite A355-S6935. I have no problem buying a replacement, but don't know how to properly remove the old one and replace with the new...does anyone have detailed...

I would suggest going to a service center as this is a very delicate procedure. Let them do the job and just pay for certain fees at least you will get a warranty from them. Otherwise, doing by your own would be too risky as it might break the LCD or perhaps, you may wrongly connect certain parts.

I have model A355-S6935 its a new unit. My problem is when typing the type skips out of the sentence into the lines already typed. Is this a common problem as it causes major rework and is extremely...

easy, your touching your mouse pad (square you touch to move the mouse), you can turn it off and use a regular mouse, turn off the laptop, plug in a mouse, windows will automatically detect it.

On every Toshiba notebook Touch Pad can be disabled on two different ways. The first one is using FN+F9 key combination or using DISABLE option in mouse properties.

Make changes to the mouse and mouse pointers in the Mouse Control Panel. To open Mouse, click Start, click Control Panel, click Printers and Other Hardware, and then click Mouse.

Good luck,
