If program 2 and 4 are flashing it means that the filter is clogged and needs to be cleaned. Switch the dishwasher off - take out the filter and clean it and ensure all debris removed from in the filter housing. Pop it back in and switch back on and now the machine should work.

Make sure that the inlet flow is good, remove the inlet valve to check. Also check the door switch and then the connections of the program controller unit. If there is loose connections it can cause errors and halt the program. Also it can be related to the program controller unit if after resetting the above there is no change .
If this is a Whirlpool manufactured dishwasher (such as Roper), the blinking clean light is an interruption in the dishwasher program that usually indicates a component problem or program malfunction. If a component is defective, it is commonly attributed to the heating cycle or thermostat related problem. To rule out component failure, or program error, the following link explains how you may be able to clear the blinking clean light problem and possibly avoid a service call:
Keep in mind all dishwashers are not alike and have different panel options. If you do not have the same set up that I have mentioned, the tech sheet for your dishwasher will explain the touch pad functions. The tech sheet is located behind the lower toe panel under the door and lists the proper sequence of buttons to push for diagnostics and troubleshooting. Just remove the screws that hold the panel in place and remove.
NOTE: Sometimes the tech sheet is located behind the inner door panel. You will need to remove the screws securing the inner panel to access it if this is the case. Make sure you turn off the main power breaker before doing so.
In many cases, I found this to be a momentary glitch in operation. If the problem keeps reoccurring the number of flashes is an indication of WHICH circuit is causing your problem. As all dishwashers differ in operation and features, refer to your tech sheet for the recommended troubleshooting steps.
NOTE: Some dishwashers use the Sani-Rinse/Air Dry combination, some use the Sani-Rinse/Heated Dry combination. Some use a sequence of three, others use a sequence of 5 pushes of the buttons. If the tech sheet is not located behind the lower toe panel, it should be affixed somewhere under the dishwasher. I have also found them located inside the inner door panel.

Under the dishwasher there is a 'kickPlate " turn the power off to the unit and there are 2 screws holding the kickplate on behind it there is a Book ( Tech Sheet ) that will tell you what the accusense lighting means. I thinks it mean you have a bad heater circuit tho which is either a bad heating element or control board. It could possible be the sump motor assy too. Any qusetions feel free to ask hope this helped Phillytech1
Basically the dishwasher is telling you there is a fault - Not so useful I know! Plug out the machine and leave it for five minutes and see will it reset. If that does not work, you will need to reset it manually. To do this consult the manual. If you don't have a manual, go to http://www.hotpointservice.co.uk/hs/pages/manual/manualSearch.do and down load one. Good luck!
