I would like to know what laundry detergent and softner to use in my front load, and the right amount to use. I buy the H E products and some of them are really sudsy in the wash sink and I have this awful gummy residue in my sink where the water dischargers, YUK. My sister in Fla just bought a Frigidaire front load and she was told to use 1 Tablespoon of this special powdered detergent and no fabric softner should be used. What is that about. I am totally confused, never had any problem like this with my top load machine. Help please, don't want to ruin machine or my plumbing. Thank you. Norma Goodman, 21 Belmanor Dr, Rochester NY 14623

You should use HE detergent following the directions for that detergent. You can add liquid fabric softener. Make sure to fill the appropriate compartment to the Min line if you are doing a small load.

I've never used a washer that drained into a sink (always had a stand pipe). However, I suspect that the gummy residue is the excess softener that was removed in the rinse cycle. Try rinsing the sink with hot water after a laundry. This is part of the procedure to clean the inserts and detergent/bleach/fabric softener drawer when you get a build up in the drawer. In the future, use less fabric softener in the washer. Alternately, skip the fabric softener in the washer but use a dryer fabric softener.

The manuals for most Frigidaire appliances are available from http://www.frigidaire.com/manuals .
The direct link for the manual (in English) for the is: http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodinfo_pdf/Webster/134609000een.pdf .

I hope this helps.

When to add softner during wash

Hello, the softener is added during rinse circle but bleach needs to be added at the beginning. First add the detergent, then let the water get it nice and sudsy, then add the bleach then the cloths. It is when you get to the rinse circle that you add the softener.

Thanks

Don’t wait for the machine to jam to look into your filter.

You can use Affresh to clean your front loader. Deposits of soap and other such things can be stuck around the inside tub of your washer. Try this product, it works great on all front loaders. Use very hot water with the Affresh pellet with no clothes and run the machine through a cycle. Also helps with any stagnant water smells. Put the Affresh pellet inside the machine, not in the soap dispenser.

There are 3 compartments . . .

It says the 1st compartment going left to right laundry detergant and stain remover, the middle is for the soaking agent, and the last one is for fabric softner. I hope that helps!

You can download the manual online and I found the info on page 12 of the manual.

Softner Compartment won't drain

this may be a faulty valve that allows the water to fill the softner compartment.to check the draining capability remove the drawer and take it to a sink make sure it remains level you you sink tap or a cp of water and fill the compartment almost to the top and it should start draining once it starts to drain stop putting water in and watch it. it should finish draining by itself there will be some water left in it but only a small amount. if it does not drain clean it out.

MY FRONT LOAD WASHER STINKS! THERE IS A MUSTY ODOR COMING FROM INSIDE.

what kind of washer?
all front load washers get this issue
the way to get rid of the smell is by doing an acid wash to your machine
set the washer to the highest temp setting (sanitize would be best)
mix in 1/2 to 2/3 cup of javex or white vinigar, either one will do it
run your washer through the longest cycle possible with no clothes in it
may need to be done more than once. and up to once a month

the smell is caused by leftover detergent and leftover fabric softner gathering on the interior shell and in the rubber boot at the door.
front load washers do not require much detergent at all, and even less fabric softner.
be careful on how much of these you are using, more is not better
this will help prevent the odor from comming back
as well when laundry is not being done, the front door should be left open a bit to allow air movement in the washer.
hope this helps

Laundry Detergent

this usually depends on the type and brand of detergent you use. for example if you use standard detergent and it takes 1 cup, then you use concentrated detergent and it takes 1/2 cup. you have to check the detergent container for proper amount to use. for most detergents it is around 3/4 to 1 cup of detergent.
Ps. dont forget to rate my answer please. Thanks.

Laundry detergent

Why do you want to use a special detergent??? Tide works fine! You just need to use about 1/4-1/2 what is used in the American machines. Now if you really want some exceptional laundry detergent like we use in Europe, buy Persil (google it).

Whirlpool duet fabric softner problem

It obviously is backed up or splashed in from the wash. And if it is just water why worry about it.
