which word processing program do you have?
Exactly what is the suffix of the document you are trying to open? is it DOC? WPS? WPD?
Just quickly you could right click on the icon of the document you are trying to open and click open with and choose WORDPAD. Then once you have it open you can save as an rtf file, then try opening this new file onin your program.
Please give me more details though unless this happens to work for you.
