I've been looking for a Rival Smart-Part Module to be able to program cooking time & temp. for a basic Rival slow cooker that does not have that function. I can't find the product for sale anywhere. Is the product still available or is there a different product out there that will work?

I couldn't find the specific manual for this, but I did find some basic instructions on a personal review:
"Rival calls this a SmartPot and describes this unit as "programmable". All this really means is that you can program the slow cooker to cook either on "High" or "Low" for up to 20 hours, in 30 minute increments and then it will automatically switch to the "Keep Warm" setting and keep your meal warm for hours. You cannot program multiple steps, such as going from the "High" to the "Low" setting. The red, LCD clearly displays the remaining cook time. Simply plug in the slow cooker, and then push the clearly marked buttons (with a pleasant, audible tone) to move from "Low" to "High" to "Keep warm" settings. Then push the Timer Button to set the desired cook time." Hopefully, this helps answer your questions!
This is how I get mine to go to warm manually. Press "Cook Time" until it gets to the "slow 10 hour" setting. Press "Off", then press "Cook Time" twice. This puts mine on the "Warm" setting. Found this by accident and it took me quite a while to recreate, but the "Warm" setting is very handy if your food is already done before the cook time runs out.
I had a similar smell coming from my crock Pot when I used it the first couple of times. After about the second or third time, the smell went away. I always figured it was the metals and such heating up to such a high temperature for the first time.
It never seemed to effect the taste fo the food....and my family is still alive!! :)
Units such as the "Countdown"
and "Recipe" Smart Pot™ slow cookers have a designated warm setting.
Basic Smart Pot™ slow cookers have an automatic warm feature that
activates a keep warm function when the cooking time expires. This type
of warm feature will not activate without the set cooking time expiring
first.
I discovered this solution by accident. To get my crock pot to go to the "Warm" setting directly, I begin by pressing and holding the "Cook Time" button. Then, with the cook time button held down, press and release the "Off" button, holding it down for a second or so and then releasing it. Finally, lift your finger off the "Cook Time" button. Presto! The unit will be set on "Warm." So the key to this is to press and release the "Off" button WHILE the "Cook Time" button is being held down. Might take a couple tries before you get it, but then you'll see that it works every time.
Here is the manual for this cooker;
http://www.crockpot.com/manuals/38601-C_English.pdf
page E4 and E5 tells you details of programming/timer/temperature. Check through everything and see if you can figure anything out.
after cooking, the unit should automatically switch to warm mode, if it isn't doing this then unfortunately i think it needs a replacement control board - probably not worth doing.
If you want to give it a try then post again and we can try and source you the bits
Hope this helps :)
