Re: water filling issue with mty kenmore 417.44052400
Yes on the dispenser door there is a magnetic switch that looks like a thin black cylinder similar to a short pen . About 1 1/12 long. It may have been dislodged. Make sure the dispenser door is closing all the way.

Hi stuwstark, you could try running a quick wash cyle without any clothes in the tub once cycle is activated you will hear water flowing through the dispencer holder from there you can try riggling the dispencer to see if it will loosen up, in some cases the dispencer holder can become stuck due to dry soap powder clogging up the sliding rails also the dispencer holder can become stuck due to the liquid detergent box "insert" becoming loose and jamming it self up against the top casing of the dispencer holder so by applying the cycle when the water flushes thru the holder could ease the hard powder or could float the insert making it easier to open, try it and see how you go, thumbs up if it helps thanks.
1s it fills with water to rince off any food or anything else on te dishes then it refills , with the wash cycle then the soap door opens , then it drains once moreand refills to rince thendrains again
once a month bleach machine out and clean out soap and softner dispenser,so lets start cleaning you are going to need a powerful-pool shock and put 1/4 of the bag in the soap area, you well need to let it soak for 24hrs. cause you have mold in every inch of the machine. Now run the machine on cold water. After machine has gone through all cycles.Open door you may need to clean door seal with a old tooth brush, and you may need to lift seal to check underneath.after seals are clean and dispencer is cleaned were dispencer goes make sure its clean as well. after use always keep door open and dry out dispencer after each use.always use a 1/4 of a cup of clorox2 for HE. and clean machine out this should stop ths problem.
The newer Whirlpool dishwashers have little slots in the top of the soap dispenser to allow water to seep in during the first water fill. This design allows the tablet to begin to dissolve during the first fill then be usefull when the soap door opens. In your case, I would check to see if the soap dish is opening at all. Perhaps one of the racks are not allowing clearance or the soap door itself is sticking closed.
Let the dishwasher fill, drain, and then fill again. Open the door of the dishwasher and see if the soap door is still closed and if so, there is your problem. Also, at this time, check the water temperature. It should be at least 120 degrees F for the soap to be effective.
The inlet filter is probably clogged. Try letting it fill up. Open the door to stop it right after it starts to wash Pour a gallon or two of hot water in and see it it works better Stop and do this everytime it goes to fill up. If the door opens , soap is used and dishes are clean ,clean the filter in the fill valve and possibly replace it. or the whole valve. (around $25) The soap door may be a seperate problem. I don't remember if Kenmore uses a spring or a small heat element to open the soap dispenser. Try cleaning it really well, shut the dispenser, open the door and turn the timer very , very slowly and watch to see if the dispenser opens. (WIth the door open the dishwasher will not run, but leave it plugged in.) It should open sometime during the cycle.
If you are you using a liquid soap or packets that will be the main problem. If your unit fills with water circulates the water and drains the water, and also heaters are working then you probally need to change to cascade powder soap. The film on the dishes is soap. The unit has so much build up in it that when it gets to the rinse cycle it is rinsing dishes with soapy water. You need to get 2 medium bowls fill both 2/3 up with white vinager, place one in upper rack and one in lower rack and run unit on longest cycle letting the vinager splash out during wash.do this with no soap and no dishes.Having soft water will allow you to use less soap.
In applications with low water pressure, insufficient water volume is introduced during the fabric softener dispensing portion of the cycle to flush the dispenser. RESOLUTION: The holes in the dispenser housing were enlarged to allow a greater volume of water to flow through the fabric softener dispenser to properly dispense the fabric softener. Order and replace the dispenser housing, Part #8181719, to correct the condition
water is getting past the gasket during the start up cycle. by the time the door opens, the water has caked up the soap. also, its not clear when in the cycle the door is opening. try using liquid soap. also, take a peek just after the machine has finished filling and starts washing to see if the door is opened on the soap disp. good luck mark
