Will the vtech interact with already an existing Uniden 5.8 ghz power max base unit and handset plus one additional handset and charger to give me four locations or just two more single handsets with charger? Not aware if the brands make a difference. Thank You

Hi there, Your new phones will not interact with a base station from another brand of phones. If you want to use one base station, you can buy single phones of the same model and brand and those will interact with the original base station. Your new phones will not connect to the old base station Sorry, Alex

How do i add another handset "uniden 6.0" phone to an existing phone and base unit of the same brand.I need the step-by-step instructions please. thank you!

First make to get a compatible handset.

For the Uniden D1660-2, the compatible handsets are DCX160 and DWX337. Make sure that you have not exceeded the number of handsets that the phone can support. The D1660-2 can support 12 handsets unless you use any DWX337 handsets. Then the limit is 6. (If you have more handsets, you will need to deregister some of them first.) Then allow the handset to charge. If the handset is reading "not registered", then place it into the base unit. You should see "Handset Registering" for about 30 seconds; then it will read Registration Complete. The manual for the Uniden D1660-2 is available here: http://www.uniden.com/content/ebiz/uniden/resources/ownersmanuals/D1660-2om.pdf . This is the most common Registration for Uniden phones; there are a few exceptions (depending on the base or the replacement handset). Check the appropriate manual (see below to find the manuals).

For the DECT4096, press Menu on the base and then navigate to Handset Register. When you see Handset Registering on the base display, press and hold # on the handset to be registered until you see Handset Registering. (It takes about 2 seconds.) After the display changes to Handset Registered, check for dial tone.

On a few Uniden phones, there is a Page/Handst Register button on the base. On those you navigate through the Handset menu to Handset Register (Menu > Handset menu > Handset Registration). Then press and hold the Page button until you hear a beep. Then wait for the registration to be completed.

Most Uniden manuals are available here: http://www.uniden.com/scat/cordlessphones_mnl . Select your type of Uniden phone and scroll through the list to your model or use the search box to directly search for your phone and the manual.

I hope this helps.

I just purchased from Vtech LS6475 plus two accessory handsets LS6405. The two handsets that were packaged with the base registered without a problem. The two access. hs's are not registering. They go...

the accessory hand sets have to be vthech ls5475 units the same as what came in the original packaging
the extras you got will not register with an incorrect base
take them back and exchange for the correct units

How do I deregister my handsets on my VTech 2656

To be able to register your replacement handset, you must de-register all the handsets from the VT2656 base unit.

Follow the steps below to de-register your handset(s) from the VT2656 base:

1. Take out the handset that sits on the base.
2. Unplug power from the base.
3. Hold down PAGE while reconnecting power. When the In Use light blinks, release the PAGE key.
4. Hold down PAGE key for 5 seconds. When the In Use light begins to flash, release the PAGE key.
5. The handset charging light will blink 5 times. Within 5 seconds from when it stops blinking, press PAGE once.

You must register the handset(s) by following the steps below:

1. After charging the handset, remove it from the cradle, the LCD display will read "SEARCHING FOR BASE".
2. Press "NEW" and then enter the 15-digit Base ID code, located on the underside of the VT2656 base unit.
3. Press "OK". The handset will display "PLEASE WAIT!!".
4. Wait approximately 15 seconds. The handset will display "FOUND BASE". If the handset displays "BASE BUSY TRY LATER", this indicates that the system is in use. Wait until the base unit is in the idle (on hook) mode and repeat steps 2-4.

Will uniden 6.0 handest work with an existing 5.8 system? I have an 5.8 system for about 4 years I think the handset cordless is not holding a charge so I would like to purchase additional cordless sets...

Your 5.8 system utilizes analog transmissions at 5.8 GHz between the base and handset. The DECT is digital at 1.9 GHz. Sorry, but the two systems are totally incompatible.

I have an Uniden power max 5.8 GHz home phone but don't have the owners manual the handset won't ring and a icon of the bell on the screen is X ed out. i can't seem to figure out how to turn the ringer...

Sounds like the handset needs to be re-associated with the base unit.

If the manual for the Uniden PowerMax manual on the FixYa website for manuals is not the correct manual, go to the Uniden website and locate the manual there.

Uniden TRU9485 (This didn’t work for me but this was the first instruction from Uniden Tech Support)

Unplug the base unit AC adapter.
Hold down for 15 seconds the DND, * and “menu” soft key (the middle silver soft key under the LCD) while plugging the base unit AC adapter back in.

VTech 5.8 mhz won't work

I found a solution that fixed this problem (at least for me). On the vtech site they said to unplug the base unit for at least 5 minutes. Previously, I had only unplugged the base unit for a few seconds. This time, I left it unplugged for about 10 minutes or so and when I plugged it back in, everything was working fine. Apparently there is some sort of capacitor that must discharge long enough to completely remove power from the circuitry.

Good luck and I hope this works for you!

UNIDEN 5.8 GHZ CORDLESS PHONES

Registering Handsets to the Base
Whichever handset you choose to charge in the base is automatically
registered to the base. Any additional handsets must also be registered to
the base before you can use them.
Be sure both handsets are fully charged.
One at a time, place each handset in the base. The charge/in use LED on
the base begins to flash, indicating the base is registering the handset.
Wait for at least five seconds, then pick up the handset and press
[talk/flash]. If the display shows TALK, the handset is registered. If not,
place the handset in the base to try again.
Press [end] and continue with the next handset.
Note:
Once both handsets are registered, it doesn’t matter which
handset is placed in the base or the charger.
When you charge the handsets, Caller
ID summary screen and the name of
the handset appears.

This can be find from uniden website.
