The best way to really flush out the brake lines it to thoroughly bleed the system in the normal manner. You could disconnect the brake lines at all the possible points and blow them through with alcohol and then blow them dry with air, but the bleeding method is quite adequate, you should use at least a pint of brake fluid and ensure that you bleed each point until clear new fluid comes out of each bleeder point. Always keep the reservoir fill to avoid getting air into the system. This is something that should actually be done at least every two years as routine service and do not be lured ito discussions about DOT 3 and DOT 4 fluids. DOT 4 has replaced DOT 3 fluid as a superior upgrade to the older outdated fluid. Silicone fluids are available you would need to clean out and overhaul you complete brake system to use them. They are not compatible with Glycol based fluids.
