Sorry but it sounds like the panel again.. i replaced mine after a boil-over and when i replaced it, i added a silicone bead under the panel along the top to stop the problem from recurring..
i've never seen engineering so poor.. there's no way that the engineers are this stupid so they must have done it on purpose to keep their repair network in business.. lol

I have exactly the same problem. I bought the range brand new from sears in dec'05. the first time the "off switch" stopped working was in sep 07. I only then discovered that unlike everything else on the range the touchpad was not covered under the warranty, so I ended up footing the bill for $330.00
Anyhow, just 12 months and 20 days after the replacement, the exact same problem has occured (just 20 days after my warranty expired on the replacement) I am quite shocked and upset that a premium brand such as KitchenAid has failed to make a recall on this product, which clearly has a manufacturing defect.
