Tc = (5/9)*(Tf-32); Tc = temperature in degrees Celsius, Tf = temperature in degrees Fahrenheit.

Multiply by 5 and then divide by 9.
Your formula seems sketchy to me.
Think with me and we will derive the formula without looking it up.
0 thru 100 degrees celsius represents 32 thru 212 degrees fahrenheit. There is a difference of 100 degrees between 0 and 100 degrees celsius. There is a difference of 180 degrees between 32 and 212 degrees fahrenheit.
Therefore, to convert from celsius to fahrenheit, a span of 100 degrees (given celsius) needs to fit into a span of 180 degrees (wanting fahrenheit). To cause this to happen, the temperature in celsius needs to be multiplied by 180 (the span we want) and then divided by 100 (the span we have).
However, 0 celsius is not 0 fahrenheit, it is 32. Therefore, the answer we get after multiplying by 180 and dividing by 100 will be 32 degrees lower than the actual answer. Therefore, 32 needs to be added to the answer.
Producing the following formula:
degreesFahrenheit = degreesCelsius multipliedBy 180 dividedBy 100 plus 32. degreesFahrenheit = degreesCelsius * 180 / 100 + 32. degreesFahrenheit = degreesCelsius * 180/100 + 32. degreesFahrenheit = (degreesCelsius * 180/100) + 32.
Often times people will reduce the fraction (an unnecessary step which hides understanding): degreesFahrenheit = (degreesCelsius * 9/5) + 32.

Example 5/9 x 180 would be written 5/9 x 108/1, then multiply straight across

5 x 180 = 900, 9 x 1 = 9 for a fraction of 900/9, or 900 divided by 9, which equals 100.

Converting 14 degrees c to f

To convert degrees Celsius to degrees Fahrenheit, you multiply by 9/5 and then add 32.

For example, 0 degrees Celsius would be 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

Another example, 100 degrees Celsius would be 212 degrees Fahrenheit.

14 degrees Celsius would be 57 degrees Fahrenheit.

Good luck,

How to change fehrenheit to Celsius

Can you give us the model number and brand name of the thermometer you are trying to change? If you have a calculator you can do the math. To convert temperatures in degrees Fahrenheit to Celsius, subtract 32 and multiply by .5556 (or 5/9). Here are some examples for you:

Example: Convert 26° Celsius (a nice warm day) to Fahrenheit

First: 26° × 9/5 = 234/5 = 46.8
Then: 46.8 + 32 = 78.8° F

Example: Convert 98.6° Fahrenheit (normal body temperature) to Celsius

First: 98.6° ? 32 = 66.6
Then: 66.6 × 5/9 = 333/9 = 37° C

How do we change F to Celsius.

How to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius 0 degrees Fahrenheit is equal to -17.77778 degrees Celsius:
0 °F = -17.77778 °C
The temperature T in degrees Celsius (°C) is equal to the temperature T in degrees Fahrenheit (°F) minus 32, times 5/9:
T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) × 5/9
or
T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) / (9/5)
or
T(°C) = (T(°F) - 32) / 1.8
Example Convert 68 degrees Fahrenheit to degrees Celsius:
T(°C) = (68°F - 32) × 5/9 = 20 °C

What is 20 celsius in farenheit

Hi jujaramirez,

Have a nice day.

Here is the formula to compute farenheit to celsius and celsius to fahrenheit:

C is Celsius
F is Farenheit C = 5/9 (F-32
F = 9/5 (C+32
Let's try converting 68 degrees Farenheit to celsius 5/9(68-32)
Step 1: 68 less 32 is 36
Step 2: 5 divided by 9 is 0.5555555555555
Step 3: multiply the repeating decimal by 36
Step 4: your solution is 20
Now, convert 20 degrees Celsius to Farenheit to check your work.
9/5C +32
Step 1: 9 divided by 5 is 1.8
Step 2: 1.8 multiplied by 20 is 36
Step 3: 36 plus 32 = 68

Hope it answers your problem.

Thank you for using fixya.

How much celcius is 32 fahrenheit?

32 Deg F. = 0 deg. C.
The following formulas apply in general:
Tc = (5/9) x (Tf-32); Tc = temperature in degrees Celsius, Tf = temperature in degreesFahrenheit.

Example: 40 deg. F minus 32 = 8, 8 x 5 = 40, 40 divided by 9 = 4.44 deg. Centigrade.

To go the other way:

Tf = [(9/5) x Tc]+32; Tc = temperature in degrees Celsius, Tf = temperature in degrees Fahrenheit

Example: -10 deg. C x 9/5 = -18; -18 + 32 = 14 deg. F
