4 yrs. old & vertical white lines have appeared on the left hand side of the screen 2' width. The white lines appear about 3" from left hand side of screen & are running completely from top to bottom.
This TV has a very expensive panel... we are talking $3000 core charge alone! It comes complete with all the lower buffer boards (which from the sound of it, you are having a problem with). Individual boards for this defect are not available on repair parts list I know of. A panel is what you need, PN: 9-885-063-33

When you get vertical lines from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen, it means you have bad LCD panel, you need the new one. It will get worst with more lines as time goes by.
it can be fixed but in this case i doubt its worth fixing. these problems can be astronomically expensive and personally i would buy a nice new bravia or something similar. please rate
Had this same issue on right side of 52" about 1 inch from side but had 3 vertical lines that disappeared after 40 minutes. Have Samsung LNT5265FX/XXA and about 16 months old. LCD Panel itself had to be replaced to fix it, fortunately had extended service plan
This seems to be common problem with Sony projection tv. I have the KDF-E50A10 that lasted only 2 years. It's sitting in a corner now until I figure out what to do with it. I am not going to spend another grand to repair it!! Never Sony again.
I have not fixed it yet. But I have identified the chip that is causing the problem. If you have a service manual scan it and post it please, so I can show you the chip.
If the picture is ok otherwise then only thing that probably needs to be done is a vertical height adjustment. That is if the lines never changes position from cold to hot.
These sets are common for bad connections on the ribbon cables connecting the screen to the drive printed circuit board. Or the drive circuit could have a bad drive scan IC. I doubt that but possible. Your going to need to call an AUTHORIZED sony repair servicer to trouble shoot this for you cause any other shop may not have a clue of this problem. Good Luck
