I have an integrated webcam in a Dell inspiron 1526. The camera works when I check the dianostics, but I don't know how to operate it by itself. Help! Stupid in New Rochelle

here is your answer, as is true for all PCs made

you first need the USB drivers in the PC working prefectly or the camera will be dead
then the DELL drivers for this this exact PC loaded, and only DELL has those, not fixya, nor MS< nor others.
only DELL.com has them.

or load all the correct driver there and it will work
unless the PC is infected with virus, as that kills anything,.

did you upgrade from VISTA ,if yes, that be #1 first fact to tell.

select device manager from their choose imaging devices or camera. right click on it choose check for drivers or update driver option. it may help you. :)

Go inti the BIOS settings and see if the BIOS detects the hard drive.
If not then re-seat the hard drive to make sure it is connected properly.
If the hard drive still isn't detected, then most likely the hard drive is faulty.
In this case to get the Dell operating again, replace the hard drive, install Windows on the new hard drive plus install the Dell Inspiron 1526 device drivers and your programs.

Put the DVD with Vista on it in and reboot. Follow the promts on the screen.

You can't have two video cameras in operation at the same time. Video cameras are known as "streaming devices" to the operating system.

You will need to go into your device manager and "DISABLE" the one camera you don't want to use in order for the other to work properly.

please try to uninstall your webcam and again reinstall it coz your webcam driver is accidentally corrupted. hope this will solve your problem.

You can manage your webcam if you have installed Dell Webcam Manager.


1. click on START
2. When the menu opens, highlight either All Programs or Programs.

3. Click the Dell Webcam folder, then click the Dell Webcam Manager icon to open it.

If it is not on your system, try to remove and reinstall the driver from manufacture website.
