Check and double check and make sure your connectors are not cross threaded and connected tightly and in the correct slots on the back of the unit. If this is not working then the transduce may be bad or the cable it is hooked to has a break in it somewhere. The transducer also must be in water to get a reliable test and the transducer must be a match to the unit. If yours is not a match then Humminbird offers an exchange for the correct one for your unit. You can check the pins where they go into the unit on the quick disconnect mount. Look to see if the female pins haven't pushed up and in, also that the males are not bent or corroaded. I doubt it, but its a quick check.

Remove the head unit from the quick disconnect mount. You will then find all the connectors held in place with two screws. If the screws are loose, the connectors can pop out and down. Also, check the pins when you have it off.

Here is a manual, in case you don't have one: http://www.humminbird.com/PDF/100sx.pdf

My Mark 4 sometimes shows incorrect depths. The transducer has not moved and no problem with electrical. One point it is working fine, the screen then runs multiple vertical lines and the depth chan

Take note if when the vertical lines appear on the screen if the depth numbers begin to flash. If this is the case then the transducer has lost bottom contact and the unit is trying to reacquire bottom contact. If the transducer is parallel to the bottom of the lake while your boat is not moving then, the next time you have it on the trailer, turn your unit on and go listen and or feel the transducer to see if you can hear and or feel the tick or sonar ping. If you can't your transducer may be faulty. If the loss of bottom contact occurs when you are moving it will happen at a certain speed. This is the result of air bubbles passing under the transducer and disrupting the sonar signal causing loss of bottom contact.

Ck rotation motor

Controller sensing wrong rotation of compressor. The 220 volt 1 Phase motor rotation can be changed. If this is a new compressor check to make sure all vacuum lines are tight and not cracked. The rotation error is caused by the lack of vacuum to the avpt transducer. The transducer may also be bad or not connected properly. check the connections to the transducer. Wiring and plastic vacuum line. If this is a unit that has had the motor replaced visually verify rotation of the motor. Rotation arrows should be on the unit. I believe rotation should be clock wise. If it is indeed motor rotation incorrect the motor tag should show the correct internal motor connections to make the motor rotation change> If not comfortable take it to a trusted motor shop.

No transducer

Make sure the plug that gives this unit power is secure. Also I think this device has a 2ft branch that goes to the ducer. Make sure that's right too

Transducer Error

You either have a fault in the head unit, connection to the transducer, broken wire in the transducer cable, or a faulty transducer.

I have a Garmin 182c with a garmin GSD20 sounder unit ,if my transducer wire is cut or nicked would it cause the unit to unit to read " sonar turned off" ?

If you nicked it good enough yes it can. If the receiver doesn't detect the transducer, a digital message on the display will indicate this.

Sonar does not appear to work - not picking up depths or bottom structure. All other functions look good.

This problem is most likely linked with your transducer.

1. Check your transducer cable and make sure the plug terminals are clean, as well as the plug on the back of the unit.
2. Make sure the transducer cable is plugged in correctly and securely.
3. Make sure the transducer is in the water and mounted according to the directions, parallel to the bottom of the boat
4. Turn the unit on while the boat is in the water, but with the engine OFF.

IF it works when the engine is off, but vanishes when the engine is on, you may be having electrical interference.

IF it works when the engine is running, but vanishes when the boat is moving, it is a turbulence problem. Move the transducer.

IF it does not work at all, try borrowing a new or a "known good" transducer and seeing if it works then. If so, replace the transducer.

Let us know if these work or now.

My Lowrance X-51 is not reading the depth sitting still of running . Do I need a new transducer ?

Yes quite possibly... But a few things to try/check first before you go out and get a new transducer...

1. Ensure the transducer is fully submersed below the waterline when floating and when on the plane... try lowering it more if you can.
2. Check the surface of the transducer itself (the underside) pointing down... If there are any minor scratches or scuffs, this can effect its function or performance. Minor scratches or marks can be sanded out with fine wet/dry sandpaper (at least 400 or 800 grit).
3. Isolate any electrical wires running near or next to the transducer cable. Also check connection of cable at head unit, and that the pins etc are clean, free of corrosion and making good contact.
4. Take your head unit to your Lowrance dealer and they may have a transducer there to use to diagnose whether it is indeed the trasnducer or a problem with the head unit.

Good luck!
