I have a set of 3 walkie talkie motorola I have put them all at the same settings. One wont transmit, one wont recieve, and one sometimes does one or the other. What could be my problem?

You will find the manual here. The radio is part of the 280 series radios, so there is a general manual on all in that series.

Hello gc0273,

Make sure that both radios are using the same Interference Eliminator Code. The situation you describe sounds like one radio has a Interfernce Eliminator Code activated and the other radio does not.

To access the Interfence Eliminator Code setting on this radio press and hold the MENU button until the code starts to flash, then use the + or - keys to adjust the setting and press the PTT to save it.

Scanning Channels
Use scanning to monitor channels for transmissions or to find someone
in your group who has accidentally changed channels.
1. Short press MENU until the "Z" appears. The current setting
On/Off will flash.
2. Press either + or – to turn On or Off.
3. Press the PTT to confirm or MENU to continue set up.

One radio works properly, the other can receive. I assume there are more than two by the question. Check and then rotate you batteries, mark on the working unit battery that it is GOOD. Transmit takes a great deal more power than receiving. Batteries, even un-used only last 18-24 months typically. If no joy, then check your programming but I think that is unlikely. It really sounds like a power/battery issue.

Both walkie talkies are on the same channel, but will not transmit voice messages

Check your Code setting. Both the frequency and the code must be identical for the units to communicate. Shut off any special features and keep the radios at a simple setting until you get communications back.

Portable motorola gp 340 can receive but cannot transmit

Don't know your capabilities but if it were me I would open the phone and check the contacts for transmit button. Sometimes contacts get corroded and need cleaning or it just may be no connection at all and a adjustment of the contacts will resolve the issue.

Motorola EM1000 2 way talkie unable to transmit

Low/Bad battery beep most likely. Try switching batteries to the problem radio and see if the problem goes away. If so, replace the batteries. You might also check the battery contacts both in/on the radio and the battery. Clean with a pencil eraser if necessary.

Nextel i850 can't receive calls

may be the walkie talkie can recieve signals only to an certain distance,so it may be due to the signal problem........
if the reciever is beyond the permitted distance it loose its frequency...........
or else the person who is calling walkie talkie might not hav signal in that area.....
and if the walkie talkie does not recieve any signal then the receiver component present inside the walkie talkie might be damaged.........
and if it does not reply to an signal transmitter might be damaged..........

T5900 Walkie Talkie Issue

Hello Bo Duke,

If one radio won't walk to the other my guess if that you have the Privacy Code function set up incorrectly.

The privacy code function mutes the radio unless it receives a signal from another radio transmitting the same privacy code. If Privacy Codes are turned on for Radio A but not turned on for Radio B then you will be able to transmit from Radio A to Radio B but not from Radio B to Radio A. If Privacy Codes are turned on for both radios but each unit is set to a different code then neither radio will be able to talk to the other.

Make sure that the radios are both set to the same privacy code or that the privacy code function is turned off on both radios. You can find more information on how this function is set in the radio's Owner's Manual.
