Question about Acer TravelMate C110 Tablet PC

1 Answer

Major problems. My acer Aspire went on strike and wouldnt let me do much, so i ran loads of recovery tolls, etc. No luck there. So i backed up everything and decided its time to format. I couldnt find the windows vist Cd to save my life but saw that the Activation Code was written at the bottom, so i figured Ill download and burn a version, and put in the actual code. - Well. Now my computer just shows a black screen. I have no idea and I am freaking out. Help?

Hi,
You need a Factory restore CD. It May be, that The VGA Driver ( Graphics ) Is Not Installed With Vista et,c. Although Vista/7 et,c does have A Large Driver Database. It,s always possible, That The Graphics chip, hasn,t been Recognised At setup.
Possibly Downloaded A Corrupt Version Of O/S.
Mike.

My aspire 1810tz notebook unable to boot up. went into setup, unable to find hard disk.Help!

Try to check the connection of the hard disk inside maybe did not fixed properly. Just open at the back of your notebook where the hard disk was inserted. After that if did not works, just replace your hard disk it could be damage.

Panasonic TOUGHBOOK CF-18 Took out HD to reload windows as it would not load but stuck at the safe / last known good config etc. Loaded XP onto HD via an ACER laptop and reinserted it into ToughBook -...

I think your actually having issues getting it to run on the toughbook because it uses different drivers for everything from the Acer computer. If you press F8 while booting up you can choose the option "Disable automatic restart (of system errors or something)". Then when the machine boots up you should get a blue screen giving you an error code like "IRQ_EQUAL_TO_OR_GREATER_X Error: 0x0000005f. You could try to see what the message is trying to tell you to resolve it but the error msg would likely point to the driver that its trying to load that's most likely different from the toughbook you have. I'd suggest getting an external cdrom/dvdrom and install windows from a disc onto the toughbooks hd while its in that toughbook machine.

Will not boot even from recovery media disks

If you have an XP disk, or even one you can borrow, you might want to try to see if you can boot from that. I have one of those machines that I run with regular XP, I wish you well. A still small voice told me to get the extended warranty, and I am so grateful. Since buying mine in Nov 2004, it's gone in for factory warranty at least 12 different times.

Recovery Problems

The Tablets can be quite difficult to perform a reimage or recovery on as most bios versions on them do not recognise a USB device as bootable.

My recommendation would be to obtain a Bootable Floppy disk that contains an imaging program. (GHOST. Powerquest etc).

From here you may have 2 options available to you.
1. Attempt to recover using the hidden partition on your hard drive.

2. Recover from an image located via the network. You will need to ensure that a driver for your network card is also bundled into this install. Once this boothdisk has been created you will need to create a "shared folder" on another PC which contains the image you require. Once the bootdisk has loaded point yourself to the shared folder.

Lastly - You may be able to find an updated bios version that allows boot from USB device.
