Please can you advise on my Olympus SP-800UZ, When you take a picture the white box that comes up over peoples faces etc. And when you half press the button and the box goes green. I'm not sure if it is called the AF Target Mark ? But can you switch this off as it covers the face when trying to focus ?? Thank you

No, the Olympus SP-800uz has the PC Software on its internal memory.

The quickstart guide does tell the procedure to follow: Initialize camera
and installing the ib software. If you did format the internal memory of the
camera, the software setup is lost. You can find alternative and better
Olympus software here. The ib software you can find here.

The SP 800UZ doesn't have a black-and-white or sepia mode. You can convert a color picture to black-and-white or sepia by editing the picture on the camera. Full details are in the "Edit" section of the manual (page 38 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one from the manufacturer's web site at

In general, you're better off converting to black-and-white or sepia using photo editing software on a computer rather than doing it on the camera. The computer will give you much better control over things like brightness and contrast.

The Olympus SP-800uz digital camera does not come with a CD.
All PC software is delivered on the cameras internal memory (setup.exe).

When you need software, you can also use the better and free
Olympus Viewer 2 program for PC and Mac.

The Olympus SP-800uz camera does not come with a CDROM.

The software for Windows is available on the internal memory of the camera, if you did not format / delete it! If you are using Windows, the software should popup a message to install it, when there is no SD-card installed in the camera (only internal memory), if you connect the camera to the computer.

As an alternative, you can download another free and much better Olympus software program, the Olympus Viewer 2. See here (you need to put in your cameras serial number to download it):

Are you talking about the camera's LED screen, or your computer monitor screen?
Anyway, the Olympus SP-800uz camera has 4:3 image sizes and widescreen 16:9.
Just set your camera to the size you need to get your images shown fullscreen.
An alternative is to use a graphic (or tool) program that is able to crop your images.

For what I can see, there is no standard date imprint on the pictures other than in the PRINT menu.

Zooming when recording video on the Olympus SP-800uz is only possible when the sound is set to off. Set the zoom to the setting you want before recording, after that start recording.
