Question about Panasonic Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

Microwave combi oven/grill Timer can be set as usual but whatever longer time is set the function always switches off after 99 seconds. The time remaining stays on the clock display but the macine has to be restarted and will run for another 99 seconds before stopping again still with time remaining on the clock. Machine has given good service for 4 years but it is frustrating to have to stand by the machine to do anything which takes more than 99 secs!

Hard reset did not fix unfortunately.

I did not give the detail of the fault or the machine accurately I apologise. The machine is a Sharp Platinum Collection combi

Microwave /Grill / Convection Oven model no R-937(IN)F

    031207209

However the timer is set for any function for more than 59 seconds, it will only run for 59 seconds (Sorry I said 99 last time) So if the timer is set for 2 minutes cooking time, the start button will have to be pressed at 2.00/1.01/0.02 ie 3 times to complete the 2 minutes. If the one minute timer is pressed it also runs for 59 secs and has to be restarted to complete the last second which remains on the display.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

    Regards Chris

    The
first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a
minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

Let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Otherwise, it may possibly be a damper-related issue. This is a convection model, right?

Please reply back with your model number as well.

Sounds like issues with the mcroprocessor on the main timer board. Contact https://encompass.com/ to see if it is available

SOURCE: Help, my Panasonic NNA724M Combination

This is an inverter model, and when they stop after 20 seconds, it usually means a problem in the high voltage section, either the inverter or the magnetron.

If you don't have experience troubleshooting high voltage inverters, I recommend calling a pro.

SOURCE: Sharp Covection Oven/Microwave stops after 1min on any setting

This 59-second stop failure is due to a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller thinks that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sadly, we hear of this over and over.

This is due to a defective or loose magnetron causing electrical interference and disruption in the control circuit board.

If your magnetron was recently replaced, it may have loose mounting nuts or bolts or maybe the wire mesh RF gasket was not installed or got pinched.

It may also need a new high-voltage diode and stirrer, and the cavity may be affected.

Details are in their bulletin here. Even if your model is not on the list, the same problem can occur, requiring a kit. The parts kit is similar to this one.

(Your model may use a different kit - this is shown for illustration purposes only).

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

They may even send you a replacement magnetron. GE Customer Service is here.

Good luck.

If the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these inverter-based models.

Belling CJ ss 25 Microwave Combi

I would suspect a bad magnetron or a loose connection at the magnetron's terminals or possibly another high voltage part (such as a shorted diode or bad transformer).

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Otherwise, I would contact the manufacturer or your local microwave / appliance repair center for service.

Good luck.
