If you do not know the Wireless Password(PIN), you will need to Log in to the router and set it. Make sure your computer is plugged in to the router with an ethernet(internet) cable. Do not use wireless connection.

Open Internet Explorer, or your favorite browser, and in the address bar where you type the name of the website you want to visit, type the following: http://192.168.1.1

When prompted, use the following password:

Username: (Leave Blank)
Password: admin

If you cannot Log In using that password, you will have to reset the router to its default settings. To do this press the Reset button on the back of the router for 30 seconds. Once it comes back up, try to Log In again using the password above.

Once you successfully Log In, look for the tab that says 'Wireless" or "Wireless Security". Set the security type to WAP. Enter at least a 10 character Wireless Password(PIN) that uses at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, a number, and a special character.

Apply the change and then give your house guest the Wireless Password(PIN) you created above.

(default is usually admin for name and no password or password as password) and going to wireless then security and you should see something written next to the generate option and hit generate and that shall be hte key

Why is Cisco router not giving internet access to guests

I'll venture a guess that some file sharing or such activities are going on, using up the three guest IPs. I'd suggest upping the number of guest access in the router to something like 10, then taking it down from there. Perhaps don't broadcast SSID if you want to ensure someone is leeching your internet bandwidth, and share the name (SSID) only with your friends/guests.

Want to put lock on guest

Linksys E series routers can broadcast 2 wireless networks. First one is the main wireless network which is secured wireless network.
The second network is a guest network which will always show you unsecured.
It will never show you secured and you can not make it secured.
However it has a web based security.
Anyone can connect to the guest network but will not be able to access Internet without Guest access password.
In other words there is a security.
You can disable guest access also.

I have a Cisco E1000 N Router. Is it possible to have multiple SSIDs? for example, Can I have a network SSID for inside my home for multiple computers/printers and then another SSID for guests?

The SSID (Service set Identifier) is the NAME you give the wireless network (the Name of the router) and you can only have one.. BUT you can have a seperate password (key) for guests to access the router.

I have moved one of my two computers to my guest house which is about 120 feet away from my cable modem and I have no connection to the internet. I have the computer in the main house connected to a...

I would go wireless. Try to connect to the net using a laptop (wireless) at the guest house. If the signal strength is decent you should be fine with getting a wireless NIC for the PC in the guest house.

If the signal strength is bad, either buy a 802.11N router (make sure it's N and not draft N, these should be available now or within a few weeks (nov 09), or buy another access point and connect it via ethernet to the main access point. you only want one modem and one gateway generally speaking.
