Black box blocks out lower half of television screen

check your CC settting, Closed Caption and make sure it is turned off..

THERE WILL BE A BUTTON ON THE SONY REMOTE THAT SAYS PIP OR LOOKS LIKE A TV SCREEN CUT IN HALF WITH A LINE DOWN THE MIDDLE.

I would replace the lower Y buffer. Part number 996500032640. Goodluck.

I would like to know the same. We purchased ours on 10/25 and on 12/29 a black half moon shape showed up in the lower left hand side of the screen. Now the rightmost side of the screen is almost covered in black circles. There are also varying widths of lines going up and down on the right half of the screen.

We have tried contacting cusomer service and keep getting voicemail.

Hi, sounds like your closed captioning is turned on, go into the menu and look for "CC" or "text" and turn them off, video-tek

Look in the menu for the "captions" heading. Once in the closed captions, turn off the "text" heading. This text mode is putting up the black box on the tv

there is a loose connection in the bord..It must be resolder...

Try turning off the text box function of the closed captioning.
