Hlr5688w samsung dlp turns its self off

Two things to look at first:

Remove and inspect lamp to see if damaged or if picture is dim.

Second is listen for a fan like or high pitched sound or even a grinding sound---color wheel...

Those are the two most common issues here.

As soon as I turn the TV on, a loud screeching noise comes out, and the picture is all distorted.

It sounds like the color wheel has failed and needs to be replaced. You can call 1-800-samsung to find the nearest service center.

Samsung 2006 56" HLR5688W DLP TV Right half of screen turns black. Left side normal picture. Corrects itself when set is turned off and back on. Randomly occurs - sometime picture is ok for half a day...

Possibly a bad light tunnel assembly if the part is only a shadow effect. If not then probably a bad DMD board. The DMD board is part of the light engine but needs to be replaced by a technician.

That humming sound is a sign that your color wheel is becoming or already is defective. If you don't replace it you might even lose picture in the future since it's part of the light engine system
