You do have to initialize the DVD-R before recording into it and you have to finalize it when it is full (or whenever you wish to) in order to view it on DVD players.

How old is it ? If you paid 95 euros and the initial price was 600 Euros & the offer started at 300 Euros if it s working all right probably done ok if you want to check on relevant prices for these have a look on Ebay for similiar items I have done the search on ebay with the PENTASONIC HD camcorder (GB-310) and nothing comes up also http://www.nextag.com/panasonic-camcorder-hd/stores-html

I heard about that quite a lot of time,in deed. But, I personally haven't load 16 or 32 GB memory card in Canon FS200. At the very begining, I was thinking of using 16 GB SDHC card instead of built in 8 GB memory. The shop assistance don't advice me to buy more than that 8GB because he also know that problem. So then, I am still using with 8GB untill now.
I had the same problem but fixed it by initializing the SDHC Card. It explains it in the manual. If you go to the menu and then down to the card it gives the option to initialize it. I did that for all my cards and now they work fine. Hope that helps...
This camcorder only takes DVD-R and DVD-RW, it will not work with the +R discs. I've used Maxell and Fujifilm discs and they both worked fine. You have to make sure the camcorder is plugged in the wall when initializing or else it won't initialize.
