Did you check the remote with another Onkyo system at the dealer ??. If its OK try resetting the system. Remember you will loose all your stored presets ( FM and customized settings ) and the Amp will go back to factory settings.
While in standby mode hold down the DVD button and press the Standby/On button., the display will show Clear and the Receiver will go into standby mode. Turn it on and try the remote once again.

I send alot of Onkyo's back, I do $50,000 home theatres and we have alot of trouble with Onkyo they're quality control is just awful. Go buy the same one new, and put that one in the box, nice and neet like you only opened it and looked at it, keep your old remote, your wires your manuals, leave everything new in the box, and then return it in two or three days. that's what I'd do. But next time buy from a reputable dealer that will stand behind the sale. I never had to contact Onkyo, my dealer did all the work, I just had another one shipped and, returned him the screwed up one. I won't use them any more to many problems brand new right out of the box.

I need the remote control code (for onkyo receiver

Philips Blu-Ray player codes for Onkyo universal remotes are: 33007, & 33016.

You can download Onkyo universal remote codes with instructions here.

I hope that helps.

Connected home theatre system but no sound sub woofer

If the system uses a remote control, you may need to adjust the subwoofer out signal setting or turn on the sub in a menu, and on many systems, you can only access those settings via a remote control (you should check the onkyo user manual on how to do it).

Now, this is just one suggestion, it may work, but then again, it may not.

These could also be connection problems or some internal trouble in the onkyo sub signal output section or in the subwoofer input section, but hopefuly, it's just a "turn on" or "signal level" setting in a menu.

Good luck

I'm having trouble finding a remote control that works for a durabrand ht-395 home theater system. I found one but it's $40.00 and that is very expensive for a remote control. Is there something else that...

Although any universal remote will work if your reciever isn't really old, it is always impossible to tell how well they will work or what functions will work. Although a home theatre receiver doesn't have any advanced functions.

The safest thing is always to contact the manufacturer and see if you can get a replacement remote. This is very expensive and not always possible, but it guarantees full functionality.
The next step would be to buy a really cheap universal remote and see if it works, which it should for the home theatre. I would guess you only need power, volume, and perhaps function changing right? If so, a cheap one should work. If that doesn't work, then you are pretty much confined to buying a really expensive one with more functional control in the hopes it will work, but you never can tell until you try it unfortunately. I have an RCA home theatre receiver that is quite old and it's a good thing i still have my remote, because none of my many universal remotes that I have work with it....

I tend to agree that the LED is loose on the foil connections. You can certainly test it by shining it at a camcorder and observing the viewfinder. Most, if not all, video units can "see" the light coming from the led if it is functioning. An easy way to test this is to use another remote that you know is working and do the 'corder test. ....accordianman

Onkyo subwoofer not working

I fixed my subwoofer. The resistor at R16 (right next to the fuse) was the fried component. I removed it and replaced it with a 13K ohm 5 watt metal oxide resistor (from Mouser Electronics if not available locally). Works fine now. I got the solution and the circuit schematic from an audio hobbiest at diyAudio.com. This is, evidently, a fairly common problem.
