I am unable to connect my A200 Satellite Pro to my wireless internet router and have been advised I need a code to unlock the wireless adaptor inside the machine

The wireless adapter in the laptop needs to be configured withe your wireless router wireless settings ie. the SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption before it can connect to the wireless router/Internet/\.

do you have an internal wireless adapter? Is the switch switched to on? Are you close enough to the wireless router. Do you have the right security code selected for connection to router? I would try resetting router and modem if the above is not the problem.

what happens when you connect the lan cable to the lan port and obviously to a working internet connection?

If you wireless on the laptop is turned on and can not detect the router look at the router wireless configuration settings. If it has multi channel broadcast, most do, change the transmit channel to channel 10 instead of the default channel of channel 6. You may have to change another setting in the router to do this. 108 mps will not work except on channel 6 so if this is checked remove that check mark.

Log into the Belkin router and make sure that the DHCP services are running. If it is, and you still are not getting addresses, perform a factory reset of the router. There is a link in the web management console to do this.

I contacted Bigpond after my whole internet collapsed due to my amature abilities in fixing the internet. >_<" yet they fixed my internet connection by disconnecting my current (DLINK DIR-300) router from the network. hmmmm... the technician also confirmed that my current broadband modem (2WIRE 2071-A) isnt capable of supplying a shared connection to more than one computer!! she also directed me towards a modem with an inbuilt wifi router that "supposedly" is the best option right now. (2701HGV-W) I'm a bit shaky and the stupid NETGEAR adaptor problem still exists - im willing to buy the new modem if its guaranteed to abolish this problem and give me a better internet wise outlook - please any suggestions will be appreiciated =)

Installing the Yahoo Messenger 8.1 needs an Internet connection. It could be that your laptop is disconnecting to the Internet while you're installing Yahoo Messenger 8.1 that's why it will not finish the installation process.
