There isn't one. Unlike calculators from other makers, your HP knows when you've made a data entry and when you haven't. Simply press the item which you want. For example, if a book tells you to press COMP then PMT to calculate the payment, simply press PMT.

You have two buttons to calculate powers: The [x^2] calculates the square of a number while the [caret ^] key allows you to calculate any power, be it with integer, fraction or negative exponent.

Both keys are next to one another, one below OPTN and the other below the VARS key.

To calculate roots, you have the square root [SHIFT][x^2] the xroot key [SHIFT] [caret ^] , the CUBE root [SHIFT] [(] , and the inverse key [SHIFT][).

To enter an exponent of ten, use the EXP key in the middle of the bottom row. For example, to enter 1.2 times 10 to the 7th, press

1 . 2 EXP 7

If you want to raise 10 to a value, use 10^x, the shifted function of the LOG key on the top row.

Hi a ritha,

If you are talking about the FX-300MS calculator, the ^ button should be there just below the large "Replay" button, on the immediate next row, slightly to the right. After pressing that, write "-2" withing brackets, like this (-2). The * function is in the number pad below, as you know. If your calculator really doesn't have the ^ button below the Replay button, it is probably faulty. Go exchange it for a new one.

Hello,

There is no such key, only powers 2 and 3 are given a specific key. To raise a number to any power (including 2 and 3) you use the general power key [^] or [X to the y] or [Y to the x] I do not have the calculator with me.

2 to the power of 20 is entered as 2[^]20 =1048576 ( If these were bytes , this number would be called 1 megabyte.

Hope it helps.

To change from Fraction display to Decimal display on the Casio fx-300ES (and probably other calculators)

1) Press the "SHIFT" button

2) Press the "MODE/SETUP" button

3) Press the "2" button

This Changes it to LINEIO (Decimal)

Doing all of the above but pressing the "1" button instead of the "2" puts it back into MATHIO mode (Fraction)

Hope this Helps
