Without more detail it's impossible to say for sure. It sounds like the bulb may have gone bad and that needs to be replaced.

O me O mi the cost of repair is sky high!

You have a few boards and components that have died.

Mostly the damage will be on SUST board 2 there will be a number of capacitors that are burned and even split ( crackling noise) The convefrgence chip will also be affected..

Unplugging it resets the failsafe sensor, but after a few seconds will shut the TV down because it detects parts that quickly heat up and report back that all is not well. If you continue to excite it it can even catch fire, so leave it off and have it repaired.

The recommendation is that all 3 boards are changed simultaneously to prevent domino effect. Also it is difficult to determine if the original fault was caused by one of the other boards in the first place.

It is not just a matter of playing board swap jockey as this will end up costing more than a tech who will fix it propely the first time using the right tools, his/her electrical knowhow and the specialised tools that will realign the convergence by generating a hatch pattern on the screen.so that the picture has the right hue and is not 3d in appearance. All voltage outputs match etc.

Conservative cost of repair is in the $600 region

No picture, tv has a clicking sound

Could be a bad flyback transformer and shorted horiz output.

Loud hum when attempting to turn on my RCA F27628 27"TV

could be that the main b+ filter Capacitor went bad and blew up. Also could have been the horizontal output transistor shorted and the flyback poped. In eather case it would be recommended that you take this set into a repair shop unless your familar with HV circuits in tv sets. Good Luck
