  • katsmeow1 Sep 15, 2008

This is a Sharp Camcorder Model VLZ5u/VLZ3u. Same problem, shows DEW then shuts off. Haven't done the blow dryer but did let it sit open for hours and after days still shows DEW and shuts off. Could the camcorder be broken?

Dew means...humidity in camera. Power goes to Off for protection because tape or video head can be damaged if humidity at video head. Blow Dryer for 2-3 minutes in camera while in cassette compartment is Open. Hope after that camera will be ok.

Front glass fog from the inside.

First buy a dew shield, this will help prevent dew for some period of time. You may also need to buy a dew heater for the scope. Depends on where you live.

DO NOT leave the scope pointed up toward the sky for long periods of time.

Bring the scope outside at least 1 hour before you are going to use it. This lets the optics reach ambient temperature which will give you better views.

Here is a retailer that sells a dew shield and dew heaters: Bring the scope inside for a day or two and see if the dew "inside" the tube vanishes all by itself, before you decide to open it up. The corrector lens must be reinstalled in the EXACT position it was in before you removed it.

When I turn on the camera, Lens error shows up on

Try jiggling the lens. Use compressed air to blow out any grit around the lens barrel. If that doesn't do it, you'll need to get the camera serviced.

Lens Errors 17 & 27 on Sanyo VPC-E760

My camera was showing lens error 12&25 and then shutting off. I tried gently trying to twist and pull the furthest out part of the lens and it popped back into place easily. It made a noise when it did this, and then i turned the camera off, and the lens went back in!! Completely fixed now!!

Where are you keeping that camera? I would return this camera if it keeps happening (before warranty expire).

Dew

It is possible that the dew sensor is faulty or more likely that the connection from teh sensor to the rest of the camera is faulty. This unit will require repair. If you can soler, you may be able to resolve this. I'll look up your model to see how bad the access is to the sensor.

Dew

Model: VL-Z800 Sharp ViewcamZ

I was in Shanghai in Dec 2008 over Christmas and I experienced the 'DEW' problem. The cassette tape door would not close either. I did not experience this before even after 2 years. I suppose the cold & the rain water causes the dew to accumulate in the CAM.

Solution.
I did the reset by taking out the small tiny battery situated just above the big battery. The small battery has a cover. Pull it up & Get the small battery out and the whole camera resets. Re-entering the date & time is the only inconvenience. After reseting, I could use it again, but not for long as the problem comes back. When I came back to Malaysia (Temp 32-34 degrees celsius), the DEW problem disappappers.

You could also try this method to get rid of the dew. Buy a small sack of rice. Yes rice, the uncooked ones. Cut open a small opening just big enough to put your CamCorder into the sack. If you do not want to get your CAM dirty, wrap the CAM with tissue paper. Close the opening with a musking tape and leave it a few days. The dew should disappear from the CAM. It works for mobile phones too when it is accidentally drop into water. Of cause you should not switch on the mobile when it is still wet. It will self distruct if you do. Try the rice solution for a week before you on your mobile.

In your owners manual on page 52 you will find a list of authorized service centers. Give the one in your area a call. Give them the brand name and model number of the camcorder. Tell them you are having a problem with the dew warning coming on while using the camera with the battery. They should be able to help find a answer to this problem. You can also call the panasonic customer support telephone number at 1-800-211-7262 between the hours of 9am-7pm EST. Give them the brand name and model number of the camcorder and ask them for help with the problem of dew indicator coming on while in use with the battery.
