the whole purpose of the PW is so others can't read your private data.

So why would guessing it ever be good.?
What screen fails. THE W8 WINDOWS login?

yes, then do all users on that screen fail to login
is the login local or windows Live login.

live login is easy to reset at ms.com
MS page to do that is outlook.com (using 2nd PC that works)
next time write it down, say in book only you know using postitnote. (memorize only the page #)

unless you can hack it, or remember it, you won't get your old password back. You can reset it provided you still have access to the email address you have on file with facebook. Simply goto login and look for and click on, "forgot password" (or something like that!) and an email link to reset your password will be sent to you. Open the email and click on that link. On XP you can try this:
Boot computer and press Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice when you See Windows welcome screen / login screen. It'll show classic login box. Now type "Administrator" (without quotes) in username field and leave password field blank, press Enter and you should be able to login Windows.
Now you can reset your account password from "Control Panel -> User Accounts".

On Win 7 or Vista:
Ctrl+Alt+Delete won't work, you have to use some windows password reset tool. I recommend Windows Password Reset.
