Unfortunately, scratches in coated sunglasses cannot be repaired, you will have to replace the lens. Mostly there are even both lenses replaced because it may happen that there is a slight difference between the colour of the old and the new lens. But often you can come to an agreement with the optician, especially when you are his customer to get both lenses for a special price. If you have paid a lot of money for your glasses it may be worth the expenses.

If you really have a dirty lens and no scratches on or mould in the lens, the cleaning is easy. Use a lens pen, or a cloth you should use to clean your glasses. No alcohol or other chemicals. I have a cleaning set for my glasses, with a spray bottle. Just a drop on the cleaning cloth and no firm rubbing and you can clean the lens yourself.

If there is mould in the lens, or scratches, it can't be repaired. Also when the coating of the front lens is damaged. Perhaps the on/off button is only the mechanical part that you can repair yourself? Not technical, don't even start. If you are technical, you can find how to repair an kodak Z10xx in ifixit. ou could open it and perhaps you can replace the switch. That is if you can buy one, but I don't know if there are still kodak parts around.

I have a scratched lens. Can a new lens be bought?

Hello, I have several of these cameras myself and really like them, but the problem is the cost to repair would exceed the cost of a newer camera that you could purchase on E-Bay. Check it out and you can get a nice used camera.Hope this helps.

How can I repair a scratched lens?

Hi There,

Repairing a scratched is the hardest lens repair to accomplish successfully. It may be worth a shot to check with the manufacturer if ther is some kind of warranty or replacement program. The best option is to replace it. However the cost of replacing the lens may cost more than what the camera is worth. With that in mind, here are a few DIY options things you can try that may or may not work.

1. Scratch Repair Kit
Stuff Needed: Digital camera lens cleaning solution, microfiber cloth and a Scratch Repair kit.
Many companies sell scratch repair kits so there are several available on the market. Do your research to ensure it can work on, and is safe for your lens. Test it on an old camera if you have one lying around just to make the results are what you're looking for.
a. Clean the lens with the lens cleaning solution, and dry it off completely.
b. Follow the instructions provided with the kit.

2. Rubbing Alcohol
Stuff Needed: Digital camera lens cleaning solution, 3 microfiber cloths and a 3.5% solution of rubbing alcohol.
a. Clean the lens with the lens cleaning solution, and dry it off completely.
b. Dilute the rubbing alcohol by mixing 20 parts water to 1 part rubbing alcohol to get it to a 3.5% solution.
c. Take a brand new microfiber cloth, dip it in the diluted rubbing alcohol solution, and rub into the scratch using a very gentle motion.
d. You will know if this is working if you start seeing the scratch disappear.
e. Once the scratch has completely disappeared, take another brand new microfiber cloth and dry and buff the entire digital camera lens.

3. Vaseline Method
Stuff Needed: Digital camera lens cleaning solution, 2 microfiber cloths and Vaseline.
a. Clean the lens with the lens cleaning solution, and dry it off completely.
b. Dab some Vaseline on your finger and fill the entire scratch with it.
c. Using a new microfiber cloth wipe the Vaseline off very gently. Pressing too hard may cause the Vaseline to sink inside of the scratch.
d. You will know if this is working if you start seeing the scratch disappear.
e. As the Vaseline eventually rubs off, you may need to reapply some more and continue until the scratch disappears completely.

4.Pencil Eraser Method
Stuff Needed: Digital camera lens cleaning solution, 2 microfiber cloths and a new, soft pencil eraser.
a. Clean the lens with the lens cleaning solution, and dry it off completely.
b. Lighlty slide and rub the eraser unp and down along the length of teh scratch.
c. You will know if this is working if you start seeing the scratch disappear.
e. Continue rubbing the eraser until the scratch disappears completely.

NOTE: Never apply the lens cleaning solution directly to the lens itself. Alway dab a microfibre cloth with the solution then clean the lens and allow to dry.

Hope one of these works for you.

Dear Sir, I accidentally dropped my Ricoh Caplio R6, 4 days ago, on concrete pavement while taking photos. The zoom lens was stuck open and cannot retract. Please give advise to me where to repair this...

Professional repair will likely cost more than the value of the camera. But here are some things that you might try yourself.Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them.
And here's a 16 minute video summary of the info shown in the link. But note that the article link above goes into even greater detail than this video:

Hi when i tip the pram to go up on a pavement the right hand side locking device clicks and drops as if when you put the pram down, i think that there is a problem with the mechanism inside, where could I...

You can get this repaired with your local dealer, if you have any warrenty...
If not, check if it secures after setting the length/height, then pull the push-bar firmly upwards and when it clicks on both sides it's secured. Then the problem won't occur.

If the system does not work as described above you will need a repair or replacement through an official dealer...

By the way, when going up on a pavement or such, first lift it up just enough to get the front on to the pavement, then walk untill the rear wheels touch the pavement and gently lift while pushing forward. This way you'll enjoy your stroller even longer...!

I hope this helps..!

Kind regards

My Wife dropped the C-LUX 2 onto the pavement, it impacted on a corner of the body. Now, the lens will not open. Can this possibly be repaired?

It can definitely be repaired, but there is no DIY fix. Your best bet is to get an estimate at a camera shop and then decide if the camera is worth the cost of repair.

Repair and cost of this

if you just got some sand "on" the glass then all you need is a lens brush (from any good camera stockists) to brush the sand off,

if you try to use a cloth all you will end up doing is scratching your lens,  you can get some lens polishing drops to resolve small scratches. (also from good camera stockists)

you could try using an "AIR Spray" also.

If sand has managed to get into the zoom mechanism then this is a different matter and you will need get the lenses cleaned and polished,   your good camera stockist may be able to do this for a fee.
