Sounds like you have a faulty LCD, or the backlight in the LCD has failed.

Check eBay for a replacement screen.

Samsung L830 digital camera Has horizontal lines across images when taken, and nothing while looking in the display :(

Possible that the LCD shows an excessive luminanace with a retrace and could be related to some errors in the LCD as there is no fault when the picture is seen after shooting.
best is to take a consensus before any tampering is done as it is best to check with screen before being replaced,Sometimes the errors can be in the control board.

Samsung vp d20 camcorder

MiniDV cameras have two video heads on the rotating drum, which read and write the picture in broad horizontal bands. When one head is not working, normally because it is clogged by dust/dirt/tape residue, you see broad bands of noise across the image occupying exactly half the total image area.......

Darkened image

same for you, please red this: "My camera is 2 years old. 6 months ago horizontal lines began appearing in all pictures" The problem is not the sensor as the first solution has been posted, the real problem is connected with the flat cable inside lenses that is broken. You cannot replace it, you can raplace intere zoom. The problem is frequently on this type of camera and direct connected with camera frequent use. The fixed and automatic diaphragm do not work bacause broken flet is broken and the sensor is receiving too mach light. Take the camera, switch it on then light with a flashlight the lens, you see a diaphragm movement or hear a click on the lens, if not the flat wire is broken (means microcut inside flat invisible without a magnifying glass). Most time same problem is present with no image on the screen because diaphragm is completelly closed.

Hoizontal lines in images

The problem is faulty CCD sensor ( this device converts light into image ) so faulty sensor means either poor quality pics or no pics at all. Have sensor replaced and camera will work fine.
