Question about Belling Ovens

1 Answer

Hi there Have recently moved into a house with a Belling 626 white, electric cooker and the grill doesn't seem to be working. It has a mian oven, top ovem and "dual grill". The main oven works fine as does the top oven. I'm not sure whether or not I know how to work the grill properly. If I just turn on grill nothing happens but air blows from the top of it (the element part, which I'd expect to turn red, doesn't heat at all). If I turn the top oven on, the element does heat up though, but doesn't turn red. I have no manual. Any ideas? Thanks a lot...

ISOLATE THE MAINS POWER BEFORE CHECKING THE APPLIANCE
Run your fingers along the grill element, in this model it is accessible, check for raised areas or small hole or roughness not food burnt, if visible, it should be Black Grey colour at the blemish, you can obtain parts from www.whitegoods.co.uk you will need the model and serial numbers.
The grill elements come out but when unsrewed sometimes the ceramic holders crack, remove element before ordering as you may have to replace the element holders.
Hope this has been helpful

Fitted the new element but it didn't work either...

you will need a multimeter, get to the connections when Isolated from the mains , make sure thay are secure. then with great care select A/C above 250 range if not auto ranging, switch on the power, switch on the grill , some models you have to switch past the top over it has a sign with a horizontal coil, switch to this if no heat from element, measure the voltage holding the insulated part of the probe, If no reading, switch the main power off, then look at the back chassis the should be a component mounted on it behind the grill element, this location varies depending upon model.
with power off examine if there are any signs of burnt replace, the numbers are essentual to obtain the correct one, if no burning check with the meter with the power isolated for continuity, put the meter in resistance low level there should be continuity, between the pins if no contiuity replace the component and try again, let me know how you get on.
    Regards

Hi, I have a belling electric oven and separate grill. The two hobs on the left don't work, the grill doesn't work and the front elements in the oven itself has stopped. Is it fixable? Thanks.

Go to the circuit breaker location on your house and locate the one for the oven. Try flipping it on and off a couple of times. If the breaker only supplies 120 volts the heating elements won't work but the light and clock will. If resetting the circuit breaker fixes the problem, it will happen again, so replace the breaker to do a permanent fix.

MAIN HOUSE FUSES TRIPPED, RESET, OVEN AND GRILL WILL NOT HEAT UP

It would appear that the tripping of the switch has caused some kind of short within the cooker. I would look for the continuity of the heating element.

Most likely the wires leading to the heating element have burnt and will need replacement. If you are comfortable with attempting a DIY, well and good. You will have to open the back panel to access the said wires. It should be easy enough to identify..it will be the wire leadingto the heating coil.

If , however, you are not familiar with these kind of things, I would recommend getting a repair guy to do it for you.

Cheers and good luck with the repair!

Belling cooker d841 top oven

The US National Electrical Code only mandates white (or grey) for the neutral power conductor and bare copper, green, or green with yellow stripes for the protective ground. Power will generally be black or red. 3 phase power will have three colored lines, the first is generally black or brown, the second red or orange, and the third blue or yellow..
i,e,
Yellow/Green is Earth so 'E'. Brown is live so 'L', and Blue is neutral so 'N'.

Hi, I have a Belling gas cooker, the oven and grill are working fine but there is no gas coming through the rings at all. Could someone tell me what the problem could be and would it be expensive to fix? ...

I'm not a cooker expert, but try the following. Get a bit of electrical flex, strip the covering and part it so you have one fine strand. Poke this into the tiny hole in the centre of the jet underneath the ring and jiggle it about. The jets often get blocked by grease or a bit of dirt in the pipe same as the washers on a car. Costs nothing to try.

Belling oven & grill not heating ,element been testing by electrician and seems to be ok, fan and lights working

hi you dont mention the model but all bellings have a thermal cut out (Limpet stat) the formats have one on the right hand side . remove the side panel to get to it . other models may be at the back, Also can be under the hotplates if freestanding cooker. look for a button sized cylinder 15mm dia 10mm deep with 2 wires connected. or follow a common wire back from the elements( one of them will go there).

Belling oven stopped working

It is most likely the element needs replacing although it could be the oven thermostat.

I would try a new element first, it is not a complicated job to change the element but you need to switch the power off at the wall before you start work.

If you are unsure or in doubt about carrying out the work seek professional help.

Diplomat integrated oven- 13amp?

You need to get an electrician to wire it in to a 30amp cooker outlet. It is 30amp rather than 13amp (like most sockets). It should go to its own fuse in the fuebox
