Night mode is for use with a tripod, do you have a tripod? If you don't, try setting it on a flat surface when you take the picture, the camera has to be perfectly still. I hope this helps!

Just chose the little camera logo on the mode dial and try again. If you still have problems I hope to hear from you.

The night time video doesnt work and the screen is black. It works fine during the day. Not sure what has happened to the night time mode. Even when plugged into the ac adapter the screen is still black...

It sounds like the Infrared LED are not on (there are 8 of them on the fornt of the unit), it should automatically turns on when it senses dark scene. You can find out at night using the digital camera pointing at the LEDs, you should see white glow on your digital camera.
The problem can be caused by the power supply that supplies the power the LED assemblies or the detector circuits that suppose to turn on the LED when the surrounding area is dark has failed.

Samsung Star S5233A has very dark photos

this phone doesn't support flash, so it is obvious that pictures won't come good in the dark. but it is good enough in day light.

Pictures are red during the day.

U might need to change the mode in which u are taking the pics. Try setting it to Auto mode.

Night time pic mode

The one thing I have noticed about the DV179, is that it takes poor quality photos and video, unless it is in pure sunshine... :)

Yes, zooming in does distort the pic's, so be sure to put the stabilization mode to 'on', this does help a bit.

Capturing mode

Probably you are using the M mode or manual mode for taking the pictures. this shouldn't happen in Auto mode. The exposure time is set to maximum and the camera behaves as it shoot during the completely dark environment - trying to stay "open" to absorb as much light as it needed for the picture. If you are trying it during the night you will be more satisfied with the result - 30 seconds of "capturing" on the screen, a tripod and you are goimg to have exellent night shot. I had the same problem, just because I haven'got read the manual for the camera first. My advise is to check in the manual what is written for the "M" mode. Hope that I help.
