Multiple troubs A friend bought me a RX-518 @ a yard sale. It has no manual with it, and the motor makes a bad smell, occasionally sparks inside the housing, and sometimes even smokes a little. The machine makes quite a lot of clickity-clackity noises in the area by the needle/presser foot. It seems to really be having a workout just to operate. What are the chances that the motor could be stressing out over a bent or wrong size needle? What should I try before shelling out for a new motor? Or is it too late already and I will inevitably be forced to replace it anyway? I am somewhat mechanically minded, on a tight budget, and would really like to do the necessary repairs myself (unless it's really complex).
