you have a door seal leak, the ice is from outside air getting into the cooler, you might also check for an air leak it the service door in the bottom back of the cooler.

This is a problem with the 'Motor Run Capacitor'
What you suggest is exactly what happens when this part fails.
Unplug - and look carefully around the connections to the compressor - there should be a cylinder with 2 connections on it. Read what value it says (like 250V 50pf) - and order a replacement from a parts store.
never turn a fridge up side down and when moving a fridge or freezer keep it upright as much as poss and dont plug back in for 24hrs.now leave it unplugged a buy new one...
turn the temperature nob all the way to full then all the way to minimum. (the red button you press to defrost the fridge probably needs to be reset...)
I have a Danby Premiere Mini Fridge. It was sitting in the garage for a while.
I plugged it in and nothing, no sound .. no cooling.
The outlet is definately on. Do I have to push any buttons or reset something?
