Question about Computers & Internet

No input signal

I have an Apple G4 and after 6 years of faithful reliable service, just recently what has started happening is after switching on the computer it boots up normally but then after a few seconds the monitor screen goes blank and the message "No input signal" appears, then the screen switches back to normal, then goes blank again with the same message. The computer never crashes or freezes, but the screen goes blank back and forth. Then the screen settles into a strange fuzzy picture with the normal lettering ie File Menus etc becoming oversized!

Check connections, Hertz rate, and settings (if you can read them). Otherwise, it may be time to whip out the cash and get a new monitor and/or computer.

Recently got this proview tv from my bosses husband, I've tried to turn it on numerous time but all I get is a blue screen, and I'm not even sure if its a problem or if I'm to stupid to find out how t

It looks like it's not getting a signal. There should be a mode switch button that switches between different inputs. Did you connect the cable to it? You likely have mutiple inputs on the back, try hooking up a DVD player to a different input. Word of warning.. You should never make hot connections on these TVs, you could blow the input circuit. Turn it off before connecting the RCA plugs. {Possible that's happened already?] Bottom line - Look for a way to switch between inputs.

What does D03-1 mean

The TV has several inputs, Video 1, Video 2, HDMI, etc. One of the inputs is Digital. TV stations switched from broadcasting analog signals years ago. You may remember having to buy a digital antenna, or possibly if using cable or satellite service never knew it happened. You can press the input button on your remote until you see D03-1 on the screen and then do a channel search. You may pick up some extra channels that are being locally broadcasted for free in your city.

My tv comes on and has "unusable signal" floating on it

What is your signal source, OTA or cable? Did lightning or another type of power surge recently hit? Make sure you have the TV on the desired input.

If OTA check your antenna direction and that you have the Channel Setup (from the menu) set to Antenna. Also check if you have the right antenna to get stations in your area. gives the most likely channels and directions. will give more detailed information and more stations. Both sites assume outdoor antennas but the direction information is always good. Look for new construction or big trees that might block the signal. Do you have multiple TVs sharing the same antenna? You might need an amplifier.

If cable, check the Channel setup. Check for someone recently damaging your cable installation (cutting the wires, trying to split the signal to get it for free) Splitting the signal to multiple TVs may also be an issue, get an amplifier of the correct type. Some cable systems may require a bidirectional amplifier.

If you recently had a power surge, see if the TV works with other inputs.
Tuners can be replaced if the TV is worth the labor costs for you.

I hope this helps.

( My household had three tvs and a digital to analog converter that lost their tuners after a nearby lightning strike. We chose to replace the TVs since two were over 15 years old and the third was also out of warranty.)

My cable box is hooked up to the HDMI input on the TV. The signal is going out for a second fairly often. The screen goes blue and says no input.

A weak or interrupted cable signal will cause digital dropout. Have your cable company increase the cable signal level to your box from their main office. They may have to send a technician out to measure the signal level to see if it is a problem.
