It's a bit convoluted, and it only works for integers, but here's one way. Press MODE 4 to switch to BASE-N (integer) mode. If the screen doesn't read "Dec" then press the x^2 key. Now, to calculate m mod n, calculate m-m/n*n. No shortcuts, no rearranging. That's m minus m divided by n times n. You have to enter both numbers twice, but you will get the modulus.

Press MODE 1 to return to your previously scheduled calculations.

How do I calculate the mod function in my casio fx 100ms model

It seemed there is no Modulo function in fx-100MS. But Mod is just the remainder of a division operator.

So if you have A mod B = C, divide A by B, subract the remaining whole number, and multiply it by B to get C.

Example:

7 mod 4 = 3

In the Calculator:

7 / 4 = 1.75, then 1.75 - 1 = 0.75. Then 0.75 x 4 = 3

I need to calcualte 4587 mod 8 how do i do this on the casio fx-115MS? (there's no 'mod' button) Many thanks

The lack of a mod function makes this more than a bit painful. Here's one way:

Press MODE 4 to go into BASE-N (integer) mode. If the display doesn't read "Dec", press the x^2 key. Now calculate 4587-4587/8*8 (press 4 5 8 7 - 4 5 8 7 / 8 * 8 =, where * is the multiply and / is the divide).

You can calculate other mod problems the same way. a mod b is a-a/b*b.

Press MODE 1 to return to your previously scheduled calculations.

Please tell me how to find out the mod like 2%100

The fx-115ES does not have a modulo operator. However, it is possible to compute the remainder using integer arithmetic. Press MODE 4 to shift into integer mode. Then calculate A modulo B as
A - B * (A / B). For example, to calculate 2 modulo 100, press
2 - 1 0 0 * ( 2/ 1 0 0 ) =
and get 2.

Press MODE 1 to return to real arithmetic.

How to calculate 17^23mod55 in casio scientific calculator fx-991MS?

Using the Windows calculator in scientific view, we get:
17^23 = 19,967,568,900,859,523,802,559,065,713
which is 29 digits long, ie much longer than the capacity of most calculators.

Because both 17 and 23 are prime numbers, it isn't possible to simplify this calculation, so you will need to use find a calculator that has sufficient capacity to be able to handle numbers of this length.

The xnumbers add-in for Microsoft Excel can also be useful for this sort of calculation (do an internet search for it).

Using the Windows calculator, MOD55 of the above number is 18.

How to calculate 24124 mod 19937 in casio fx-991Ms calculator

The MOD function simply returns the remainder that is left over after dividing the two numbers.

In this case, its possible to see quite easily that only 1Ă—19937 can be taken from 24124 before the remainder is less than 19937. The MOD function is therefore the same as 24124 - 19937 = 4187.

In cases that are less obvious, do the division, ie 24124 Ă· 19937 = 1.210011536[34]
[The last two digits are hidden on the display but still used in subsequent calculations].
Then obtain the fractional part by subtracting 1 to give 0.210011536[34]. Then multiply the answer by 19937 to give 4187. Assuming that you haven't cleared the screen between each section of the calculation, the screen will show "AnsĂ—19937 [=] 4187".
