THe few hits that came back, agree that this is a VERY OLF-- but also VERY GOOD Thru the wall AC unit!
So-- let's figure out how to get a more modern cord plug on it safely--

What tools do you have to make the cord swap?
and do you have a new cord that you can exchange it with?

Or here is another idea-- How about changing your receptacle in the Electrical box,. to match the older style cord?

Would you be able to locate the older style receptacle-- is that an easier option, or not?

I know that a Island Air units come in all shapes and sizes and they make a ton of different units. They are made in new york thats who I would use. I would definitly go with the 12,000 btu unit 500 square feet needs 12,000 btus 10,000 is under sized. 500 square feet divided by 500 = 1 ton of cooling. let me know if I can further assist.

This is normal, the noise you here is most likely ice build up on the condenser coils. when the outside temperature is under around 15c ice will build up on the condenser coils it then falls and hits the fan blades. this will also happen if the unit has been running for a while. there is no need to spay water into the unit as this can cause damage to the electrical components.

If your device doesn't list wattage, but it does list amps, then just multiply the amps times the voltage to get the watts. For example:
amps x volts = watts x .30 if you dont have any information you are sol.

Hi, what has happened here is you have lost the blower motor to the unit. Anytime a motor will not turn and makes noise as it is trying to start, the windings are about gone, and /or the bearings are froze up. I know this is a Emerson, but I don't know the model of this unit, or if it is a window/wall unit or larger. If it is a wall type unit, it will have a dual shaft motor in it for the blower and condenser fan. It would not be worth the cost to have this motor replaced unless it is a Emerson central heating and air system. It is possible that this unit has a run capacitor on it that may have failed, but when this happens the motor will just stop and not make any noise at all. The motor needs to be changed out if its a central unit, and if you want to get an estimate to change it out if its a window or wall unit you can, but it may cost you more then the unit is worth, just to be honest from my years in this business.
