When i turn on the tv the screen will be all black and have both veritcle and horizontal lines through it. after a while(seems it needs to warm up or something) the picture will come on and be fine. once in a while it will freeze while watching something too. This is all annoying as the tv is not that old and was not the cheapest either. HELP anyone?

The cable is either bad or the cable has not been securely full connected to the input and the output ports can have loose connections and can cause the signal and have horizontal or vertical lines to show up on the TVs screen. The cable will need replacement.

Yes, this is rare but I have seen it before--not fixable if it is what I think it is----It is what is called a Dome effect---the shadow mask in the picture tube is actually contracting and or expanding depending on temperature---

Directly behind the phosphor coating (the stripes that you see on the screen) is a metal screen--the holes or perforations in it line up with the stripes on the phosphor screen.

Some masks either have a material or a defect causing the dome effect----Not likely to be anything else---a Pin amp problem will not usually act the way you describe but a shadow mask inside the picture tube will act exactly that way.

There is a way to post photos here or let me know where.

That is most often caused by a defective T-CON circuit board.

Your vertical IC may need resolder. You may have a bad capacitor or two that created an extra warm IC and create bad grounds. So resolder and check those caps near and around your vertical IC. If you continue to see this horizontal line you may have to replace the vertical IC. And you may as well check all grounds as well. Good Luck and be careful!

hi there, your set has a capacitor problem, most of it are on the horizontal section and video section., usually 100 microfarad electrolytic capacitor with a high voltage is damage. try to test some parts. ty
