Question about Kenmore 3.8 cu. ft. HE4t Front Load Washer
EVERYTHING WAS FINE FOR 2 YEARS AND 7 DAYS AS THE STORY GOES. THEN A BALANCE PROBLEM EMERGED WHEN I DID A SUPER LOAD OF TOWELS CAUSING THE DRUM TO SHAKE SO HARD IT FORCED THE DOOR OPEN BREAKING THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM. I REPLACED THE DOOR LOCK MECHANISM AND ALL WAS WELL ALTHOUGH I NOTICED BALANCE ISSUES WITH LARGE LOADS BUT COULD COMPLETE LIGHT LOADS WITHOUT INTERUPTION. THEN I GOT THE DREADED F11. I PLAYED IT SAFE AND REPLACED BOTH THE CCU AND MCU IN THAT ORDER. AFTER CHANGING THE CCU THERE WAS NO CHANGE IN F11 STATUS. AFTER CHANGING THE MCU THE F11 CLEARED. WHILE I WAS DOWN THERE, I NOTICED THE FRONT 2 SHOCK ABSORBERS HAD BECOME UNATTACHED AT THE TOP SO I RE-INSERTED THEM. (WISH I HAD CHECKED THAT WHEN THIS WHOLE THING STARTED). AFTER THE MCU WAS SWITCHED THE F11 CLEARED BUT UPON THE FIRST TEST CYCLE THE F06 NOW APPEARED. SEEMS THAT AFTER WATER STARTS TO FILL FOR A FEW SECONDS THE MOTOR ENGAGES TO TURN THE DRUM FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN STOPS. IT DOES THIS 3 TIMES AND THEN DISPLAYS F06. I AM NOT VERY HANDY IN THE ELECTRICAL DEPARTMENT AND DONT KNOW HOW TO TEST THE MOTOR'S AMPS/OHMS BUT CAN DO OTHER PRELIMINARY CHECKS. NO LOOSE WIRES OR CONNECTIONS FOUND ANYWHERE. I ALSO CHECKED THE PUMP WASH OUT AND PROPELLERS FOR OBSTRUCTIONS AND FOUND NONE.
Wow. Sounds like you've had your hands full with this one. Well, since you've already gone the route of replacing the CCU and MCU, more than likely you have a wiring harness problem and/or drive motor issue (as you have already explained). The following link explains the "F06" error and how to troublehoot:
Review the information and double check to make sure you have overlooked anything. Unless, you have purchased defective replacement parts, I can only assume the motor and wiring. Unplug the washer and perform resistance checks on the motor windings. If you have a multimeter handy, this would be on the RX1 scale. The pin locations are mentioned in the link provided. Each motor winding should read 6 ohms or less. On another note, the vibration problem you mention, was definitely caused by the shocks not being mounted properly. You may consider replacing them, since you said you're still experiencing vibration issues.
If you are still confused by anything, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
